Influence Dimensions
How are these scored?Responsibility reframing
Reframing a situation so the person who caused harm appears to be the real victim, and the actual victim appears responsible. It forces observers to reconsider who deserves sympathy, distracting from the original wrongdoing.
Freyd's DARVO framework (1997) — Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender
Direct appeal
Explicitly telling you what to do — subscribe, donate, vote, share. Unlike subtler techniques, it works through clarity and urgency. Most effective when preceded by emotional buildup that makes the action feel like a natural next step.

If you're an overachieving, under-receiving woman, you may already know that the sleep, energy, weight, skin, hair, and digestive struggles you're chronically trying to hack are somehow related to the bitterness, overwhelm, resentment, and exhaustion you struggle with in your work, mothering, and relationship. I couldn't be more thrilled to announce that after 15 years in the clinical and digital trenches as a holistic psychiatrist and coach, I have packaged the heroine's journey home to ease soft power and the capacity to handle more of the challenges life brings and to hold more of the abundance. It's called the Relaxed Woman System, and it includes my history making 44 day nervous system reset. It's the only one available with published proof of its efficacy, as well as the path to truly embodying your femininity so that you can experience the specific pleasure of who you are, as well as access to the insider resources for living the relaxed woman lifestyle that I'm known for curating. It's a six month tailored journey, all for less than $2,000, and is designed to be the very last self-improvement program you ever invest in. Head over to kellybroganmd.com forward slash RWS. Hi, and welcome back to Reclamation Radio. I am Dr. Kelly Brogan. And today I would like to do something a bit different and share a very practical travel guide for urgent care supplements. So these are the things that I love to have with me when I'm traveling with my friends or my daughters. And I'm going to give a little bit of context around the psychology of natural health supplements and why I am a believer that having this little kit, so I'm going to, if you're on Spotify or Apple and you want to head over to YouTube, I'm doing a little haul. So this is my, of course, opalescent travel kit that I bring with me. And I want to share a bit about why I think this can be very powerful because I have studied the psychology of interventions, health interventions, be they pharmaceutical or energetic. And I am very interested in the power that some of these rituals hold. So the context is that I was traveling with my best friend recently and she developed symptoms out of nowhere, gastrointestinal symptoms. She was in extraordinary discomfort. And it's interesting because one of the things, I suppose it's a gift in a sense. One of the things that I have taken from my conventional medical training is that I am skilled, trained, however you want to frame it, in discerning whether something actually is an emergency or it just appears to be, you know, uncomfortable or scary and the potential interventions that lie in wait at an emergency room wouldn't be necessary, right? So I perhaps related to my particular traumas am typically very calm when it comes to any sort of health issues that might arise. And I can perform what we are taught in medical school as a differential diagnosis pretty readily and decide, would it be useful to go to the emergency room or not? Of course, maybe not of course, I maintain that emergency interventions are probably the only valuable application of conventional medicine. And if I were to do everything over again, I probably would have specialized in emergency medicine and, and or become like an EMT or something if I, if I still had to walk this path, you know, out of the system the way that I have, because I find, again, even if it's just that you, as you would, if you were trained in martial arts or any other practice that you bring to bear in situations that are demanding a certain confidence, right? Even if it's not that you actually have something particularly valuable to offer, there is an energy that you can bring to situations that itself confers benefit. It's kind of like a meta containment, a placebo in the safety realm. And that lack of freakout is something that a little kit of the right supplements can offer you if you are traveling and you develop any kind of symptoms. Now, hopefully you know, and if you don't, I'll link to some relevant podcasts in the show notes that I've done on the subject of germ theory, that I do not believe that you can catch bad bugs from dirty food. I don't believe in contagion. So the supplements that I reference that have to do with things that we might call infections like urinary tracts or gastrointestinal or upper respiratory, that is for colloquial relating. That's so that we're on the same page talking about the same symptom patterns. And it's not because I believe that any of these supplements actually kill anything bad. okay we have made a lot of assumptions including in the functional medicine integrative and holistic worlds around what these kinds of plant medicines and natural interventions are actually doing and most of the time those assumptions are projections of victim consciousness right so they they antimicrobial right they they killing they anti in some way We learned that from the conventional paradigm because all of the pharmaceuticals that you can think of probably have the word anti in them, right? Anti-hypertensive, anti-pyretic, antidepressant, these anti-emetic, I mean, the list goes on. These are all fighting tools. And it's not to say that they do not have an effect right but the collection of effects often includes undesirable ones right so if we can avoid those and maintain the desirable ones well then we're in the realm of natural medicine so i was with my friend and while i know acupressure and i mean i'm not any sort of expert but i i have a working knowledge of acupressure and uh lymphatic touch and myofascial release these kinds of things I'm not an energy healer and I come from a conventional medical background, right? So while I was able to offer my version of Healing Touch, I really felt like there were specific supplements, specific tools that would have supported the ritual that I was offering to her. And I felt annoyed that I didn't have them with me. And we were in a remote area and it's not like we could of like popped over to Whole Foods. So I decided to gift her for her birthday, this kit that I'm about to show you. And she said, you know, you should really tell other people about this. This is useful. So that is the context for this particular podcast. Okay. So let's, let's start the haul. So first and foremost, this is super messy. I keep a satchel of charcoal. This is a specific brand. I'm actually going to link to the professional recommendations for supplements that I can offer because there are, of course, I'm a brand snob. I came up through Functional Medicine and I learned that there are a lot of ways that these companies can cut corners. You could end up getting something off of Amazon that you think is from a certain brand and it's actually just like a label thrown on some random shit in the bottle. Okay. So that link will be in show notes. But anyway, this is charcoal with clay and other binders. And I find this to be extraordinarily helpful to have around for anything that reads as gut related, as gastrointestinal. So any kind of nausea, any kind of diarrhea, you can take a teaspoon of this and mix it with water. It tastes like nothing. Drink it down. You can also find, of course, charcoal in different kinds of capsule formulations. I happen to like this one. I just feel like it's more accessible and bioavailable to the body. And you may know that even if you were to go into a conventional emergency room with an overdose of some variety, this is one of the primary interventions. So it's immediately effective and is along with clay, specifically bentonite clay, is a way to adsorb. So it's a way to take up any sort of potentially problematic toxicants without disturbing your flora or anything like that. Okay. Next and related is this is a little bottle of colloidal silver, which has probably penetrated the collective consciousness at this point. And I think most people are aware that it can be helpful for topical issues like burns or cuts or any sort of small injuries like that. It's also something that you can take by the tablespoon for any sort of more systemic issue. So like the ones that I just described, you can think of it as, okay, so I'm going to encourage you to invoke the energy of something that you have decided has efficacy, right like an antibiotic however to know that there is a way to support the process rather than to fight it actually even though you may think that colloidal silver like kills bad bugs or has some sort of antimicrobial effect a lot of my colleagues believe that it's actually like a ion donor right so it actually affects electrically your system in a way that is beneficial i'm sure we don't really know yet. However, all of these, in case this is interesting to you, have a decent amount of evidence even on PubMed, in case that matters. It's not like people haven't been using these kinds of things for a long time and there is an anecdotal support and also your intuition to help you decide whether what I'm sharing is worthwhile to you or not. Our world is so full of noise. Politics, social media, other people's expectations, societal standards, judgments. It can be super challenging to access yourself and the wisdom of your hearts, your inner compass, and that quiet place inside that is always okay. I love the mist, elixir, and anointing oil called Quiet Mind by Lotus Way. It just transports me to this space of clarity, focus. It gives me the capacity to pause and it's become something of a conditioned ritual that every time I reach for one of these bottles, I am able to open up in such a fast way, whether I'm intentionally meditating or just need to pattern disrupt some disembodied moments in my life. If this is appealing to you, I would love to invite you to head over to lotusway.com. use the code Kelly15 for 15 off The link is in show notes for you Okay Next these are whole cloves And this may seem really random I actually like chew one of these most days And if you've ever put clove oil in your mouth or been to a biological dentist or something like that, you know that it has a topical numbing effect. And again, has an antiseptic effect in the oral cavity, right? so that it can be helpful for anything like toothache or tooth pain. But it also, again, has all of these side benefits. You can put a couple of these into hot water and you can make a tea if you're experiencing something like a sore throat. You can also throw it into the mix if you're experiencing any sort of digestive issues. And again, if you have some dental stuff going on, I just like to cover all the bases. So I like to keep that with me. eugenol, which is the compound in clove, actually has been studied against NSAIDs, in case that's compelling to you. This is a formulation. It's little teeny gel caps. And aren't these bags cute? I just got these tiny bags of oregano oil. Similarly, so let's say you... Okay, so I was traveling, I don't know, maybe a couple of months ago. And while I, again, believe in the emotional origins of our symptom expression, I do believe in the ritual and I do believe in supporting the body's adaptation, supporting the body's processes through these three-dimensional ways. And again, probably mostly because of the capacity that these interventions have to confer safety, to give your system the impression that everything is in hand. It's the meta that may even be more impactful than the literal. And anyway, one of my daughters developed a fever and a sore throat and congestion. Like out of nowhere, I knew exactly what the conflict was that she had moved through even four or five days before. And she still felt uncomfortable. We still were on this trip and wanted to support her body in moving through it, obviously as rapidly as possible. Although the body's timing is the body's timing. So in that situation, I would give three of these little gel caps three times a day. In addition to this, this is, everything is charcoal all over. This is Oslo Cotsinum. So this is, you can find this at CVS. Okay. This is a Boiron formulation, homeopathic formulation that is supportive for quote unquote flu symptoms. But obviously this is energy medicine that carries a water-based imprint in these little teeny pellets. You can take even just a third of one of these and then take one whole vial throughout the day. So three times a day you take a third or the full dose is to take one vial three times a day. So I would work primarily with these two agents, the oregano oil and the oslocoxinum plus minus the colloidal silver in that situation. Then there is another situation where you might use oregano oil and this is the notorious urinary tract infection. So because I find urinary discomfort to be up there with like severing a limb from the body in terms of, you know, undesirable sensations, I have, even though I haven't personally experienced symptoms since I had more significant territorial conflicts many, many, many years ago, I traveled with this always, like I always have it handy. So the oregano oil that I mentioned, there is a homeopathic called Kyntheris 30C that I have on hand. And then this is a specific urinary formulation. So there are a number of herbs that have been well studied for urinary symptoms. and I'm sure most of you know that mannose, demannose, is an ingredient from, ingredient, that's the wrong word, a compound from cranberry. However, when you take it, and even in my functional medicine days, I was always like a dosing cow girl, I guess. Like I always, I don't know, worked with aggressive doses. So again, you may not need that, but I would recommend to anyone interested in my experience, five grams. of this three times a day of D-mannose, right? So that is not always easy to find in like any supplement. So that's what you would look for. And you would take that three times a day along with the oregano oil plus minus the colloidal silver. So another homeopathic that again, very easy to find, I always like to have on hand is Arnica. Of course, if you have a little minor injury or a bruise or a strain, it's just a nice thing to be able to reach for. And I actually did a homeopathy certification in clinical homeopathy, which is basically like using homeopathy as you would conventional medicine, right? So it's almost like, what is the homeopathic for this problem? And many classical homeopaths would balk at that because there's constitutional homeopathy and there is a concept of your remedy, right? That is a reflection of a holistic assessment of who you are, where you came from, and where you might be going, right? So it's much more nuanced, much more sophisticated So this kind of homeopathy that I referencing is like kind of quick and dirty And again to activate draw from and leverage the psychology of the fix from the energy best you can of supporting your body through a process rather than needing it to stop doing what it's doing. But never is that harder than when you're traveling or on vacation, right? And you're not in your comfort zone, you don't have your usual stuff, and you feel the scarcity potentially of wanting to have an experience in a limited window of time. So then, this may also seem random, but I like to cover all these bases, right? This is a liquid Cayenne formulation. So this is the kind of thing, while you can use it topically for nasal congestion, you can use it even topically for pain. I normally think of this if there is any sort of, there's certainly many cardiovascular applications, but any sort of dizziness or lightheadedness. You can just use a dropper, you can put it straight in your mouth or somebody's mouth or in water. And it is a powerful stimulant to the circulatory system. So I like having that on hand also. I also, another homeopathic I like to have with me is Nux Vomica, just in case there is any experience of nausea. Again, that's a clinical homeopathic intervention. And then there are essential oils. So I am a big doTERRA fan. I actually have collaborated with Claire with someone to create kits of these different sort of like packaged doTERRA oils. And I normally travel with a bunch of them. However, one to have in your kit is a good mint for nausea, for headache. It's just a powerful reorienting scent that you can use on temples or just inhale. And then lastly, I typically travel with digestive enzymes to support my digestion also because like who needs to be randomly bloated on vacation. and also skin glue. Okay. So skin glue is something you can, you know, get pretty much at any, on Amazon or any sort of surgical supply type of a place. And if you have a small, I'm not like recommending that you dabble in, you know, surgical avoidance here or something like that. But if you have a small wound and you're wondering like, does this need a stitch? does this not, it is a powerful, temporizing measure. And what I mean by that is that you can buy time and or you can support your body's miraculous capacity to close that wound. Although, you know, this may be a little bit advanced. I mean, I have all sorts of potentially emergency room level stuff in my home. But when it comes to traveling, again, just knowing you have that, it's not going to last forever, by the way, they dry up. But knowing you have that may confer some sense of like meta foundational stability. So all of that stuff fits in this little thing. So if you throw this in your suitcase and you just know you always have your kit of items that can support you through any unforeseen symptoms. I think actually having the kit is the powerful intervention. I mean, I have many, many supplements in my home because we don't use pharmaceuticals and don't go to the doctor, etc. And just because we don't have a need to, I actually think just having them, I mean, they expire almost always. I'm like throwing out many, many, many bottles of like year to two year expired items. I actually think that that is the primary intervention because if you feel resourced in this literal way, it's possible that the cascade of fear-induced thoughts won't take you far away from your body because it is the triangulation against the body that is always fear-driven. that I think crystallizes these patterns of illness into what we ultimately call diseases. And there is this little micro moment of potential departure from yourself when you experience an unwanted symptom that is, it's really powerful. It's sacred even. And the more you can support yourself through that moment and keep yourself with yourself, however you want to do it. I mean, you may have, you know, at your fingertips all that you need, literally, like in your own touch. You may be a powerful visualizer. You may be able to invoke energies. And there are many, many different ways you could put together a kit like this. This is just my way. And if you are able to hold yourself through that moment of potential self-triangulation, your body's going to sort it out in record time. Everything's going to be fine. And you're going to get back to your delightful vacation. So I hope that this was helpful. Let me know. And again, I'll provide as many resources as possible in the show notes. Until next time.
