What Bouncer Does

Bouncer is a YouTube content analysis tool built by GrayBeam Technology. It analyzes the rhetorical and influence techniques used in YouTube videos, scoring them on transparency and intensity. We provide this analysis through our website and browser extension so viewers can make more informed decisions about the content they consume.

Website Data Collection

When you visit bouncer.graybeam.tech, we collect:

• Page views — which pages you visit and when
• Approximate location — country, city, and region derived from your IP address
• Browser information — user agent string

We do not store your IP address. Your IP is used only to determine your approximate location, then immediately replaced with a one-way hash that cannot be reversed to recover the original IP.

Browser Extension

The Bouncer browser extension:

• Sends YouTube video IDs to our API when you visit a YouTube video page
• Displays influence analysis results as an overlay on YouTube
• Stores your extension settings (API URL, preferences) locally in your browser

The extension does not:

• Track your browsing history
• Collect personal information
• Access any data outside of YouTube video pages
• Send data to any third party

Analysis Data

Video analysis results (influence scores, technique classifications, transparency ratings) are derived from publicly available YouTube metadata and transcripts. These results are stored in our database and displayed publicly on the Bouncer website. Analysis results are associated with videos and channels, not with individual users.

User Accounts

If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We use this only for authentication. We do not sell, share, or use your email for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following external services:

• YouTube Data API — to fetch video metadata and channel information
• ip-api.com — to resolve IP addresses to approximate geographic locations
• AI language models — to perform influence analysis on video content (via OpenRouter)

We do not share your personal data with any third party for advertising, analytics, or any other purpose.

Data Retention

Page view data is retained for operational analytics. Hashed IP addresses cannot be used to identify you. Video analysis results are retained indefinitely as part of our public research corpus. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookie services.
