Today we're going through my bullpin routine. Now, when I throw bullpens, I always start with five up middle. So, this is the only time this whole bullpin I'm going to be trying to hit that bag. Nope. >> Now, a reasonable expectation is you want to be within 2 in either way of your spot, especially at the beginning of a bullpen. Generally, solid command. Then, a very simple exercise to get the fast ball command down. Like I mentioned, arm side is easier for me to hit. So, I want to hit glove side first. So, I'm going to throw two fast balls to my glove side and two fast balls to my arm side. I mean, technically, that's to my glove side, but not where I want to be. Now, arm side too big of a miss over two. So, the command not great. Then we start mixing in off speed pitches with fast balls in between. The fast ball in between is meant to be a reset. So change up down and arm side. Perfect. Now fast ball same side to tunnel it. Beautiful. Now because I don't have a lot of pitches to work with package the slider and the sweeper together. So first gyro, second sweeper. That hit a lefty. Now the sweeper. Better starting point. Still too high, but breaking balls are always going to be last. Now I'm going to get a fast ball up and away. That'll work. Usually my bullpens are 35 to 40 pitches cuz I like to throw. So I would do another round of those before I move into throwing to hitters. Because we're rocking 20 25 pitches. I'm just going to throw to hitters right out the gate and maybe I can get two in. I would always usually try to imagine the best left-handed hitter and the best right-handed hitter in the team we're about to face. So, I'm going to go Bryce Harper and Trey Turner. Harper first. Strike one. We'll say uh check swing butt ball. One. We'll say that time he fouled it off cuz I'm going to be nice to myself. One and two. Now, we already threw that nice fast ball away. So, I'm going to throw try to throw a change up off of it. Boom. That's beautiful. Obviously, these guys are really good. It's probably not realistic, but you always try to give yourself the benefit of the doubt. It gives you some confidence. So, I'm going to say that's a punch out. Even though it's Bryce Harper, it probably isn't. It might be now. Last hitter, Trey Turner. Baby change up. 10. Probably a ball. We'll say took a nice healthy hack at it cuz I want it to be 101. I'm going to do something outside the box and try a sweeper. Absolutely swung at that. Really good late break. It's one, two. Now, let's go for the strikeout. Fast ball up. I'm just going to hit the top of that bag and let it run. This is the challenge on fast ball. And that's a bullpen.
