Analysis Summary

40% Low Influence
mildmoderatesevere

“Be aware that the 'mirrorless camera' used for comparison is an aging model (Panasonic G7) which may not represent the current standard of high-end streaming, making the webcam's performance appear more 'pro-level' than it is in a modern context.”

Primary technique

Performed authenticity

The deliberate construction of "realness" — confessional tone, casual filming, strategic vulnerability — designed to lower your guard. When someone appears unpolished and honest, you evaluate their claims less critically. The spontaneity is rehearsed.

Worth Noting

Positive elements

  • This video provides a helpful demonstration of the OBSBOT software interface and the physical tracking speed of the gimbal in a real room environment.

Be Aware

Cautionary elements

  • The comparison between a modern 4K webcam and an 11-year-old mirrorless camera is used to suggest that webcams have 'caught up' to professional cameras, which is contextually misleading.

Our biggest live stream ever is coming up and that means we're going to need a lot of cameras. And you know, we love our friends at Obsot who are nice enough to sponsor this video to showcase their Tiny 3 webcam that is going to be great for this 48 hour live event. And the best part is you can actually buy it at MicroEnter. We're here at the Indie MicroEnter to do a couple videos, but we're starting things off with the OBSOT Tiny 3 with an awesome 4K sensor that's going to be really good for our live stream event. We'll be doing some testing during the event in this video, so you guys can see proof of concept how cool this webcam is. But we're not going to waste any more time. We're going to show you guys the setup they have right here for the Tiny 3, pick it up and take it back to Toasty Bros HQ and show you its full potential. It's really cool. We're actually at our local Micro Center and we actually get to look at the webcam in person. >> So yeah, coming down here, there's a lot of different stuff at Micros. But we're here to show you guys the Obs section, which if you guys follow us over on twitch.tv/toybros, we use OBS cameras a lot. We've done sponsor videos for them in the past, and we're no strangers to the webcams that they have to offer. I mean, we have the really awesome Meat SE, the Meat 2. This one's the Tiny 2 light. But this one right here is the Tiny 3 4K camera, which will be really nice for tracking. It's going to look super sick with our setup. We can really put it anywhere on our setup. We can put it in like in a corner and it can help track our subject going around the office. And really, it's a top tier webcam. We're getting to the point now with these webcams. I mean, we use our live streams. They replace budget cameras if you're looking to upgrade your streaming setup. >> Now, we highly recommend I know a lot of people are looking at getting a camera like Joan is holding for their streaming. It's not worth it. One of these webcams just plugs straight into your PC. They don't even need tons of bandwidth and they just work. The lighting is good, the autofocus, the white balance. You can literally just plug it in and start your streaming career. And with all the cool software that OSBOT has to offer, you can get even more control of your Tiny 3 webcam and pretty much any webcam you get from their ecosystem. So, we're not going to waste any more time. We're buy this webcam. We're going to bring it back to Toasty Bros HQ, unbox it, and get it all set up to show you what it's capable of. >> Let's do it. All right, we are back from MicroEnter and we got our Obs Tiny 3 here to unbox and we're very excited because this isn't just going to be a typical video where we get this webcam, we show you how it works and everything in like a very controlled environment. We're going to be testing this thing. >> Tiny Titan. >> I love that the Tiny Titan. >> Jonah's nickname. >> They do call him the Tiny Titan, but we are going to be testing this during our 48 hour live stream we're going to be doing on Twitch. And it comes in a little carrying case. >> Nice. Okay. All right. That's all that's in the box. We got the Tiny Titan with a lot of instructions. That is a nice fake booklet. >> It's a little mini book. It's so cute. Just like the Obs camera. And that's always been our favorite part. It's always really impressed us compared to other webcams in the market is this is like a flagship camera for them. And look at how tiny it is. Insane. Yeah, this generation they went really tiny with it. But it still maintains a 4K 30 sensor that can also shoot at 1080p 120 hertz. So if you want to do some slow-mo footage as well, don't really just think of this as a webcam for like video conferencing. You're really getting this as a content creation device. So, you can do a lot of different stuff with it, especially with the built-in tracking we will be testing. >> Yeah. And don't worry, we'll show you because I feel like some people see this and just think like, oh, this is a glorified like Zoom meeting webcam, but no, this is like we use a OBS camera daily for our live streams, building gaming PCs. >> Yeah, it is a 50 megapixel sensor on this little thing, which is absolutely crazy. Um, and then the tracking is what I really like the most because you can do some really cool shots, especially if you're a solo filmmaker. um if you have a setup that you want the camera to track you or in this setup we'll have it put up in a corner of the room where it can actually follow subjects around as we move throughout the scene and it does so at high quality and uh we get a really thick USB C cable USBC to see they do give us a USBC toa adapter that's another thing that's always been really cool about OBS is a lot of the older nicer cameras that we've used they need a lot of bandwidth OBS somehow just seems to run in like anything and this is cool too it's a magnetic stand that can go on the back of your monitor >> and it does come with a dual full native ISO built in which does improve low light performance. I will say small cameras like this you always worry about the sensor being really small and having to really crank that ISO and really distort the image to get good low light performance. This camera the low light performance is very solid. >> Dude, look at this stand. It like multiple >> yo. It goes multiple angles. >> Insane. And then also the one thing they really wanted to mention and we'll be testing is the built-in microphone is a 360 microphone that goes all the way around. Um it picks up audio all the way around. So, it is a higher quality microphone than you typically see on a webcam, which normally we don't really like the built-in microphones on webcams, but we will be testing this and showing you what it sounds like if you are just going to deploy this somewhere where you want audio and video. I think that's a good transition point for us to hook it up, show you guys how we're going to use it for our 48 hour stream. >> Let's do it. >> All right, guys. So, this is going to All right, guys. So, this is going to be our setup for the 48 hour live stream. Right now, what you're looking at is a older uh mirrorless camera. This is a Panasonic G7 that I'm using right now. Now, it's an older DSLR camera, but once I go backwards here, watch this. Here's the reveal. I love the dancing reveal. This is Jackson's camera that he's currently using, the Tiny 3, which one is currently following him. It is shooting at 4K 30 on the auto settings within OBS right now. And I mean, I'm be honest, this thing looks pretty dang good. Now, we do have some lighting being added to the scene is using auto settings, but I mean, this shot looks super sharp. Yeah, let's see if we can uh swap to the microphone real quick. >> All right, testing out OBS mic. I'm probably about a foot and a half away from it. I hope it sounds good. Matt, you want to talk in the background? >> I'm talking in the background. Can you hear me? >> So, right now I have it on fixed so it's not following me. >> That zoom does work. >> It does. >> Yeah. Oh, look how sharp she gets. >> And then I think if I do it again, it'll go back out. What other gestures are there? We got this one. So, this is tracking. Yeah, Matt's checking. I'm sure there's more. There has to be more. And then this stops the tracking. And the one thing is we will showcase some of the software stuff because it is cool that you can get software to customize it, but I always give Obot a lot of credit. Having webcams like this that are plug-andplay and do not require software. So much better. So much better. Love it. And I mean again, we're we're talking nearly like side by side with a older while being older DSLR. It is a full camera and then we have this tiny little camera that Jackson's using. And it looks I mean we're doing live action editing here. Looks pretty dang good. >> Not only that, your camera has to have a capture card too. This is literally just raw straight from the camera. No capture card, no nothing. Just a USB cable. It's beautiful. All right, we're going to use this a lot more during the stream. We'll cut back in, show you guys some scenarios of using it, but this Tiny 3 is looking pretty cool. All right, guys. We are just coming off a 40hour live stream. That was quite exhausting, I'll be honest with you. And if you guys want to see more streams like that, follow us over on twitch.tv/toybros. But the star of this video right now is that Tiny Three that Jackson used as his webcam when doing the live stream. And the results were really dang good. You guys saw the side-by-side comparison with the older mirrorless camera, the Panasonic G7. And I'll be honest, having a camera like this to replace something like that, not requiring a capture card, would be very awesome to consider for somebody using an older mirrorless camera like I am. And what just 4K 30 or 1080p 120 for some slow-mo footage like this Tiny 3 can do. And right now, I am recording at 4K 30 through OBS using a 4K preset about 15,000 kilobits per second. Could be a little bit higher. But on the PC that I'm on, this is probably the best settings to run. On the auto settings in our voiceover room, I think it looks pretty good. You guys can tell me at home what you think of the quality of this camera. But I want to use this time to show you guys some of the software control that does come with the Tiny 3 and the Obsot Center software. So, we can swap over here to Obsot Center, which as you can see, it's a very compact piece of software, which I really like to see. It's something that can just sit off to the side while you're controlling your camera, and you're good to go. We're going to start things off on the console setting here, where you can do some high FPS recording. You could turn on a high fps recording at 1080p 120 to get some slow-mo footage with this camera. This would be really cool if you're setting this camera up in an action camera environment or you want to see stuff at slow-mo in a recording. That'd be really awesome for that. You also have the ability to change the tracking modes. Right now, we have it set to full body tracking, but you can also track close-up, headless, lower body, upper body, and off to track different types of objects when you are enabling the tracking feature. Scrolling down also allows you to adjust the tracking speed, how fast the camera actually follows you. Currently, we're on the standard mode. Let's go ahead and enable it real quick. So, currently, >> it's time to bring it around. >> We're on the standard profile where it is going to find me, but it is going to take a little bit. We're going to go fast. That That thing flies around. That is pretty cool. We're going to go back to standard and we're going to lock this back in. Let's move it over here a little bit. Let's go back over here. All right, we are locked back in. We also have the ability to do voice tracking, which will allow you to track your subject based on the audio that is coming out of your mouth and being picked up on the webcam. That is super sick. You also have the desk mode view, which will allow you to do a hand down to look at your desk. You have hand tracking. You have the whiteboard effect as well. And you can manually control your gimbal with this little dial right here. As you can see, I'm moving it around wee just like that. This is cool for those who have multiple cameras. You can be a little camera operator and has some pretty cool live stream effects. Put this right back here. And as you guys can see, you have the ability to have all your cameras in Obsot Center at once. Right now, we just have one camera plugged up. Let's say you have like a Meat 2 or another Tiny 3 or a Tiny Three Light and you want to swap between them and can change the settings. You can have that all happen with one piece of software. And this doesn't conflict with OBS because it is just a control software, not a software that has the recording features built in. So, you can have this up while having OBS up and it allows you to easily make changes. You can also change some of the settings. I mean, right now we're running auto exposure, which is pretty cool. You can change the white balance as well. You have the ability to really tweak these cameras to be absolutely perfect for your environment, but the auto settings in my opinion are pretty dang good. You do have the ability to change the different gestures. Um, there are some times where the gestures may kind of it depending on your environment, especially you have people moving your hands around like this a lot, the camera could pick up the gesture of lock target and it could be a little bit annoying to use. So, when you do get the scene the way you want it and you don't need those gesture controls, you can turn all these off and it then saves to the device itself. So, you don't need the software once again. It all stays directly to the webcam. We end up doing this during the 48 hour live stream because there was a lot of different scenarios where the webcam was picking up a gesture that we weren't doing because we were kind of running around and just being goofy. So, we disabled that. It really helped us not having the webcam think there's a gesture happening, but it really isn't. You can also use voice controls like hide tiny, sleep, tiny, track me, unblock me, zoom in closer, zoom out further. Let's turn on track me. Track me. It's beautiful. It just works. Unlock me. And just like that, now it is not following us. Cool. The voice gestures, honestly, I like a lot better than the hand gestures. Those are pretty cool. And you can change the audio modes as well, which we did test the microphone here. What you're hearing right now is the built-in microphone on the Tiny 3 currently running on the pure audio mode, which gives you the raw audio from the microphone without any sort of customization. And you might be able to hear this gaming PC in the background making a bit of a humming noise. It's probably going to be a bit annoying for somebody on a call or if you're having to use this for a live stream. Let's listen carefully. Yeah, that's going to be a bit annoying. So, what we have here is different audio modes that OBS offers. And we're just going to cycle through all the audio modes and you guys can hear the difference. We are now in the spatial audio mode, which allows you to get audio direction all the way around the camera. This is really good for setting up a camera in a room and being able to walk all the way around it and get clear audio all the way around. I'm going to walk around the camera just so you can hear the experience. Here I am at the back of the camera. Now I'm moving to the front of the camera and you can hear the spatial audio mode. And also with spatial audio, this PC is a little bit quieter, but it can get even quieter if we do the smart omni mode, which is now what we're using right now. And I have a feeling you're probably not hearing that PC in the background. Pretty quiet, isn't it? Hi, this is now the Toasty Bros. doing a test of the audio on the Tiny 3. Hello. Hello. Hopefully this sounds good to you guys. And we also have some other directional modes as well. A strict directional mode, which you can hear right now. Just another way to amplify the audio on this really tiny webcam. And then lastly, we have a dual directional mode, which I love this test. Let's go ahead and do some snaps around the camera. Hopefully that still sounded clean and uh really cool for a built-in microphone on a webcam to sound this good. It's really good for audio in a pinch. If you are just having a live streaming setup and need some audio on a camera without setting up a microphone or if you're somebody doing some conference calls, this is definitely going to be an upgrade over your laptop microphone. Again, for a pro setup, I probably still would run a standalone microphone, but it is still cool that a camera like this has the ability to use a microphone if you need it in a pinch. And there's just so many other settings that you can use within Opspot Center, but for the average consumer, those are the main settings I would go over. And the Tiny 3, it's a very versatile camera and I think the visual quality is really good. Hopefully the demos we showed you guys throughout this video really helped demonstrate how this setup works and how it could be used by you as a content creator at home because I think the Tiny 3 is a very awesome webcam for those looking to move on from older DSLRs or mirrorless cameras or just want to have an arsenal of tiny tracking cameras to have a really high production setup without having multiple camera operators because that can be very costly.
