Analysis Summary
Us vs. Them
Dividing the world into two camps — people like us (good, trustworthy) and people not like us (dangerous, wrong). It exploits a deep human tendency to favor our own group. Once you accept the division, information from "them" gets automatically discounted.
Tajfel's Social Identity Theory (1979); Minimal Group Paradigm
Worth Noting
Positive elements
- This video provides a clear example of how partisan media uses 'cross-over' moments (like Bill Maher agreeing with Trump) to build a case for broad-based support of controversial policies.
Be Aware
Cautionary elements
- The use of 'humiliation' as a metric for truth, where the 'roaring crowd' and 'humiliated' opponent are used as substitutes for a factual debate on the merits of military intervention.

Ladies and gentlemen, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Bill Maher did something totally awesome. He invited Adam Schiff, Shifty Schiff, on to talk about Iran. And of course, the Democrat programming is to defend any dictator Trump topples. Last month it was free Maduro, deport Maduro back to Venezuela, you know, suddenly supporting deportations. This month it's no, bring back the Ayatollah, unbomb Iran right now. However you do that, next month it's going to be free Cuba, hands off Cuba while the Cubans are celebrating, dancing salsa in the streets. Mah did a great job calling it out and I'm not going to waste any time here. This first moment is amazing. It's emblematic of everything the Democrats are and Bill Maher called it out. >> You have to find a way to do both stand up to Trump and also deliver for people. >> Stand up. But I mean, don't you think after 10 years it's just a little I mean it's a bit of an eye roll when people see that they just think that's all you got? That's all you Democrats have is Trump and we're looking for something different. It seems like Tyler Rico is making this case and I think the fact that he won in Texas I think says a lot. >> Now here's the monologue from Bill Maher where he shocks his audience which is full of liberals revealing to them that he actually supports what Trump is doing in Iran. Also this week, war. Did you hear about that thing? You know, the we bombed Iran and it's going on now. Have you expected me to say I hate it? I don't. Sorry. When he puts boots on the ground. Yeah, that'll hate it. Now I know too many happy Iranian Americans. Sorry. Uh, and you you cannot name one horrible thing that has happened in the Middle East in the last 50 years and not connect it to this fascist theocracy. And it's popular. I mean, Iranians all over the world are doing the Trump dance. Have you seen that? It's amazing. Yeah. But you know, when it comes to the war, when it comes to anything in this country, everybody assesses everything by way of did my team do it, then I love it. If their team did, I hate it. I mean, Kamal Kamala Harris made a statement. She said, uh, this is a war the American people don't want. And who knows more about what the American people don't want. Uh, what's bizarre is Don, I'm one of the few people on your enemy's list who's backing you on this. Sort of. We'll see. And yet today, today, this is today, March 6th, at 8:50 a.m., he tweets about the war. There will be no deal uh until we have unconditional surrender. Important statement to be put out. An hour later, eight posts about me. I'm not joking. >> One thing we do know for sure, Muller, >> that is something Trump would do. He is petty like that. He doesn't let anything go. Mullers areing morons. They we some people on the fence about that. Okay, here's my evidence. They've known for months. We have all the entire military surrounding their country. Everything is aimed at them. We knew we were ready to take them out. They have their big meeting. They have everybody who's important in the country meet in one place, his office. I mean, they had another meeting of who was left. They call, I swear to God, this is not a joke, the assembly of experts. I just don't get what liberals don't get about liberation. I see so much happiness. I see it in Venezuela. I see it here in Iran. Um, could we skip the part where we talk about, oh, they had so many different reasons for going to war, regime change, and we got to get rid of the nukes, and they were supporters of terrorism. It's all of it. How about this? This was a fascist theocracy and nothing in the Middle East was ever going to get better while they were still there everything up. >> But I don't I don't think Okay, but I don't think I'm going to skip that part. That part is very No one wants to listen to Don Lemon. This is a master class. You're about to watch Bill Maher call out the hypocrisy in a genius way >> to try to say first that this is a war and then it's not a war and it's a war they declared on us somehow. The minute that they acknowledge this is wars, the minute they have to acknowledge they haven't done their constitutional duty because if it's a war, we should have had a vote to authorize it. In the beginning, yeah, there are celebrations. When Saddam fell, there were celebrations. 20 years later, not so many celebrations. >> 20 years later, Iraq is actually in a pretty good place. >> Well, people don't talk about that. Iraq is a much better country than it was. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But that kind of goes unnoticed that Iraq is not a failed state anymore. They actually have elections. They have opposition parties. They have a media. Uh >> don't you think it got better after we left? Because when we were there, it certainly was not. >> Right. But but it would still be torture rooms in Saddam Hussein and his kids would be in charge. Right. >> As we've seen, once you unleash a war, there are a lot of unforeseen consequences. Right now, Russia uh reportedly providing intelligence to Iran about how to more successfully target American forces. Um whether we anticipated that, I don't know. Uh what's happening with our allies, hard to see how that >> Well, allies Russia now has lost Syria, they've lost Venezuela, they're going to lose Cuba, and they've lost Iran. So, he's lost four allies. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> That doesn't matter. This statement from the administration, the president had the constitutional authority to direct the use of military force because he could reasonably determine that such use of force was in the national interest. That's too vague for you. >> Totally vague. >> Okay. Cuz that's from Obama about about Libya. >> Well, Obama made the argument. >> Well, Obama Okay, bro. You were shocked that your instinct when hearing it was from Trump was to oppose it, you know, fight it. And then you hear it's from Obama and suddenly it's like, well, Obama, okay, what a dork this guy is, man. Why is he the senator from California? um initially that he could go into Syria without an authorization. Um but I respect the fact that that uh that was important to him and the fact that he did not have the support of Congress meant that we weren't going to go forward. >> Everything should go through Congress >> and and if that is not happening, it should. And you know, Donald Trump is not a king. He thinks that he's a king and he's being allowed to get away with all of these things that he's not a monarch, but he gets away with it. >> But the last time we declared war was 1942, so this has been happening for a long time. I mean, >> that's true. >> 1982. This You're talking about the war power. >> Did he just say that's true? Of course, it's true. I'm so glad Bill Maher brought this up because these leftists no congressional authorization. No. Okay. Well, which war have we fought since the ' 40s where we had explicit declaration of war from Congress? >> None. >> I mean, eight times uh Congress has filed suit. various presidents, Reagan in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Grenada, Reagan in the Persian Gulf, that's the Iran Iraq war, George W. Bush, no, the first Bush in Kuwait, uh his son, of course, in Iraq, Clinton in Kasuo, Obama in Libya. I mean, this horse is out of the barn. >> Well, you know, to Bush's credit, he did seek a congressional authorization to use force in Afghanistan, in Iraq. >> You know, they talk about how Trump has no plan. You know, he's just doing whatever. There's no strategy. But watch what Trump announced today or technically yesterday. >> Said I'd give it a 12 to a 15. Uh, their army is gone. They're just about, look, their navy is gone. Their communications are gone. Their leaders are gone. Two sets of their leaders are gone. They're down to their third set. Uh, their air force is wiped out entirely. Think of it. They have 32 ships. All 32 are at the bottom of the ocean. Other than that, they're doing very well, coach. Very well. We're doing uh our military is doing phenomenally. Uh that's the big thing for this week. We seem to have a new thing every week. >> Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, let's ask ourselves this. This is a simple question. If they say Trump has no plan, let's just agree with them. And then we hear this. Their navy has been destroyed. 32 ships sunk. Their ability to launch missiles and drones have been well, let's just say, uh, eliminated, zeroed out. They can't do it anymore. They're dysfunctional because their top leadership is gone. And we're, I guess, on the third level of leaders because all the the top two layers are gone. Man, that onion is getting peeled. But there's no plan. Like, are do you mean to tell me this is what we can achieve when we have no plan? When Trump is just doing whatever? Do these Democrats understand how stupid that sounds? To the average American, Trump just said, "We have destroyed their navy. Their army is virtually incapable of responding to these attacks. We have struck over 3,000 targets in like a week. That's bizarre. We've taken out their top leaders. All of them. They're gone. And then they go and hear a Democrat say there's no plan. Trump has no plan. Okay. Well, it's obvious the plan is to completely dominate them. Pete Hagsath is saying more more strikes are coming. The plan, Trump literally announced the plan hours after the attacks was always to completely eradicate Iran's defensive and offensive capabilities. That means destroying their navy, destroying their drone bases, their manufacturing facilities for ballistic missiles. That's the plan. And it's so rich from coming from these people who have never been known for successful military campaigns. Remember Abby Gate? remember the Afghanistan withdrawal? How embarrassing that was? We lost 13 Americans and suddenly it's Trump that has no plan. I just want you to understand that it's like Bill Maher said at the beginning though these Democrats plan, their entire motto is what is Trump doing today? Our position is to oppose it. That's it. Trump can come out and cure cancer. You guys have heard this before. And they'd be like, "Cancer cells deserve to live, too. Trump can come out and cure world hunger." And they'd be like, "We hungry people deserve rights, too." Like, that's the problem with the left. It's not just a Democrat problem. It's a holistic leftist problem. Their worldview is not realistic in anything. They're not grounded in anything. they shift, you know, they went from free Palestine to free the Mullers to free Maduro. They're going to be saying free Cuba. And all of this would be like, you know what, I get where they're coming from if the people who are supposed to be impacted the most weren't out there celebrating. Iranians in the diaspora and in Iran are celebrating. And then here's what they'll do. They'll see a clip of, you know, a few hundred thousand or tens of thousands of Iranians, you know, mourning him. No, you know, and they'll be like, see, see, see. Okay. Well, Maduro had supporters. The point is he h he didn't have popular support. The guy was in power by force, not by the complicity of the people. The regime of course has a percentage of 90 million people that supports it. Yeah, think about that. If you have 90 million people in any country and you have the worst leader ever, there there will be a portion a few million that support it. It doesn't mean it's the, you know, 90 million total. Like, come on. It's obvious that the Iranian regime fixated itself on sovereignty and you know deterring Western influence and doing all these things, arming themselves to the teeth. Of course, it's also obvious that because of their ambitions in the region, their people are repressed. Like by Iran's nature as a society, they have to have a repressed people because if all you do is cut off all trade to the biggest economies cuz they don't like you, if all you do is ensure that no influence comes in, no outside business gets done by design, you're going to have a population that doesn't have abundant job opportunities that can't travel anywhere, can't watch TV from the United States, like they can't do anything. And so by design, you have a population that hates that regime. So it's mind-boggling to me. It's like a bamboozling concept that they say, "Oh, see, look at these Iranians celebrating. Nope, they don't matter, but look at these ones supporting Hemaini." Okay, well, like what what are you not understanding? It's the same thing with Venezuela. It's the same thing with Cuba. These people have no positions. Their only position in life is what has Trump said? What is Trump doing? Let's disagree with that. Ladies and gentlemen, that's all you need to know. Thank you all very much for watching. God bless and goodbye.
