  • This video provides a direct look at the historical rhetoric of two key political figures, allowing viewers to see how their public stances have evolved or remained consistent over decades.

Be Aware

Cautionary elements

  • The use of 'hindsight bias'—presenting past statements as 'prophetic' by ignoring the broader context of the time and any contradictory statements made by the same individuals.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm making this video to accomplish one thing. To debunk the left when they say Trump and Rubio have no strategy in regards to Iran. They're acting on instincts. There is no plan. And to accomplish that goal, I'm going to show you two clips from the past of Trump and Rubio talking about Iran decades ago, and it's simply prophetic how well they nailed it. The clip from Marco Rubio is from 2015 where he details what was going to be the consequence of the Obama nuclear deal that was finalized in 2015. The Trump clip is from a year after the Islamic Revolution ended. The revolution was in 79. So, let's get right into it. Here's Rubio nailing it. >> Of this deal have already been said. I do want to be recorded for history's purposes before I know what what was going to happen in regards to this if it goes through. Iran will immediately use the money that it's receiving in sanctions relief to begin to build up its conventional capabilities. It will establish the most dominant military power in the region outside of the United States. And it will raise the price of us operating in the region. They're going to build anti-access capabilities, rockets capable of destroying our aircraft carriers and ships. uh continue to build these swift boats that are able to come on us, these fast boats that are able to swarm our naval assets. And they'll make it harder and harder for US troops to be in the region. They'll also work with other terrorist groups in the region to target American servicemen and women. And they may or may not deny that they're involved, but they will target us and raise the price of our presence in the Middle East until they hope to completely pull us out of that region. They'll also continue to build long-range missiles, missiles capable of reaching the United States. those are not affected by this deal and they'll continue to build them as they've been doing and then at some point in the near future when the time is right they will build a nuclear weapon and they will do so because at that point they will know that they have become immune that we will no longer be able to strike their nuclear program because the price of doing so will be too high. This is not just a work of imagination. It exists in the world today. It's called North Korea, where a lunatic possesses dozens of nuclear weapons and a long range rocket that can already reach the United States. And we cannot do anything about it. An attack on North Korea today would result in an attack on Tokyo or Seoul or Guam or Hawaii or California. And so the world must now live with a lunatic in possession of a nuclear we of nuclear weapons. And this is the goal Iran has as well to reach a point where they become immune to any sort of credible military threat because the price of a military strike would be too high. And then they become an established nuclear weapons power. And never in the history of the world has such a regime ever possessed weapons so capable of destruction. Iran is led by a supreme leader who is a radical Shia cleric with an apocalyptic vision of the future. He is not a traditional geopolitical actor who makes decisions on the basis of borders or simply history or because of ambitions. He has an apocal religious apocalyptic vision of the future. One that calls for triggering a conflict between the non-Muslim world and the Muslim world. One that he feels especially obligated to trigger. And he's going to possess nuclear weapons. This is the world that we are on the verge of leaving our children to inherit. And perhaps we ourselves will have to share in it. And so I want to be recorded for history's purposes, if nothing else, to say that those of us who opposed this deal understood where it would lead. And we are making a terrible mistake. And I fear that a passage of this deal will make it even harder for us to prevent it. And I hope that there is still time to change our minds. But here's the good news. Iran may have a supreme leader, but America does not. In this nation, we have a republic, and soon we will have new leaders, perhaps in this chamber, but also in the executive branch. And I pray that on their first day in office, they will reverse this deal and reimpose the sanctions and back them up with a credible threat of military force or history will condemn us for not doing what needed to be done at this critical moment in the world's history. >> Yeah, he got it right. It's true. Iran used the unfrozen money, right? It was their money that was frozen. We unfroze it. Obama unfroze it and they put it right back into their ballistic missiles program. And now they are dealing a relatively significant blow to our military installations, our bases, our facilities in the Middle East, CIA headquarters in Dubai. And you know how much money we're spending to reduce that damage? Billions. Hundreds of millions. They're sending these $50,000 drones, these $100,000 drones that they can massproduce. Rubio himself said it. We're spending tens of millions on each Patriot missile to defend against a missile or a drone. That's like a tenth of the cost. It's truly remarkable. So, that's what Rubio said. Here's what President Trump said that's even more impressive considering this was like in the 80s. the the Iranian situation is a case in point that they hold our hostages is just absolutely and totally ridiculous. That this country sits back and allows a country such as Iran to hold our hostages to my way of thinking is a horror. And I don't think they do it with other countries. I honestly don't think they do it with other countries. >> Obviously, you're advocating that we should have gone in there with troops, etc., and brought our boys out. >> I absolutely feel that. Yes. I don't think there's any question. There's no question in my mind. I think right now we'd be an oil rich na n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n n nation and I believe that we should have done it and I'm very disappointed that we didn't do it and I don't think anybody would have held us in obeyance. I don't think anybody would have been angry with us and we had every right to do it at the time. I think we've lost the opportunity. Donald, would you would you have wanted to be one of those men to have gone to Iran, Iran, and have taken those fellas out? >> No, I wouldn't have wanted to be, but I would have done it. >> Would you? >> Absolutely. If I were the age, if I were in the military, >> were a lot of those fellas who went for that aborted coup who were 34 years old and older. They were your age. That's right. >> If you were called upon, would you? I know it's easy to say yes, of course. Wait, Trump was 34 years old at one point, man. He was young at some point. This guy's been old my whole life. Oh man. Wow. Trump has been above 60 technically or close to 60 since I was born. That's wild. But he's a 34 year old guy here and he's nailing foreign policy. Most 34 year olds now have no idea how the world works. It's actually kind of sad. Super sad. >> I would go. But if the phone rang right now and someone from the selective service had said, "Donald, we're taking every young man 34 years of age. We're sending him to war." Would you go to war? >> No, I don't see a war. You see, the war is is this is not a Vietnam situation. Fortunately, the war, in fact, with Iraq, >> there is a war waging here right now. >> Oh, yes, there is a war. And and it's a war where nobody has any tanks, has any guns. It's a war where everyone's standing around. That would have been the easiest victory we would have ever won in my opinion. I really >> When I look at television, I see men being uh shot up, legs being blown off. >> You're talking about two non-existent armies. I mean, Iran has an army composed of American equipment without parts and without anything else. And Iraq has a very weak army. And they're just really fighting each other. I mean, it's almost hand-to- hand combat if you see now. They've run out. It's it's a sad situation, Rona, but it's a situation which ultimately is going to get much worse. That little sparkle of war, that little sparkle is going to lead, in my opinion, to a much much greater conflict and I think that's very unfortunate and I think a lot of it has to do with this country and the fact that this country is not more involved in terms of setting policy in that area. >> Do you think perhaps that the um the oil industry is responsible for this as the late Shaw once implied? Well, I wouldn't want to criticize the oil industry because I wouldn't know enough about it. But I can tell you that I think this country is responsible for that war by its own weaknesses. I don't think you'd have this war if we if they again using the other word if we were respected. >> If I were your president, you wouldn't have this war. That's what I feel like he's about to say. properly respected as a country and as a people and as a nation. >> I don't think that you would have the war going on right now between Iran and Iraq. I don't think that Iran would have our hostages for 10 minutes if they respected this country. I don't believe they would have our hostages for 10 minutes. >> And now Trump's in charge and their supreme leader gone. So he was right, man. That's one thing about Trump. That level of consistency is bizarre to me. How can one man have so many consistent opinions throughout decades? He was right on a rock. It was a disaster. So, yeah, I wanted to make this video because, yeah, it's nostalgic. It's going into the past, but it gives us at least some idea of the intentions of the leaders in charge of this country right now. What's Marco Rubio thinking? What's his strategy? Well, he clearly has concerns that have been bu building up for literally decades. So, Trump as well, you know, these people have been talking about Iran. They've been talking about the relationship, the arrangement, Rubio more so with the more recent video, but Trump even way back then. So, I think it's incredible that they are now the two guys in charge of our foreign policy and the direction it goes. I think what's going to happen is eventually we will have taken taken out enough of the leadership for someone new to come in and go, you know what, we'll negotiate with the Americans and then we'll have a deal. You know, that's the hope. That's the greatest scenario. But it could also just keep dragging on. We'll see. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all very much for watching. God bless and goodbye.
