Is It Spring Already??

Well, hello and welcome to a 60 degree day here in southern Iowa. I looked up our weather averages for this time of year or for this day and it's supposed to be an average of 34 degrees. So, we're a little bit above that today. Looking into next week, it's also looking quite warm, upper 60s to maybe even hitting close to 70. So, very abnormal weather happening. But in the Midwest, we like to call this fake spring. And that's pretty much just that time of year when we get that little bit of hope. The sunshine here at the end of the day starts to warm our face and starts to feel nice again and we start dreaming about all those projects and the green. It's a little early for that right now. So, I've had a few questions already about applying pre-emergence or applying other things to the yard. And it's definitely early for that. So, you don't need to be worried about any of those things or thinking that you're missing out because it's getting warm for about a week's time here. There's very very likely and I'm seeing some of the trends going back towards those maybe slightly above normal temperatures but more like the 40s coming here for us and you know it can typically snow still in March or April. Definitely likely to get cold again. So watch your trends and watch the weather closely but I wouldn't be concerned about anything going on right now that you need to be worried about with getting applications down. Now, as you do start to get down into the southern states right now, that is possible that you're seeing some consistent warmer weather. And that might be a time for you when you do need to watch more closely about applying some things and making sure that you're watching what's going on. But for us up here in the north, unfortunately, we have some time to go yet before things change into our actual springtime weather. But while everybody's thinking about that, and while it's looking very, very warm here for a little stretch, I thought that we would go ahead and run our pre-season sale for our grass seed. We typically try to do a really big sale at the early season, get people thinking about the yard again, get people thinking about the projects for the year. So, if you have something coming up in the spring or if you have something in the fall and you want to get a head start here, get your product, and make sure you're ready to go, then this is going to be the time to do it. As far as me and what's going on here this year, I am sitting out on this very, very brown ry grass which was planted last fall. So, I'll be taking care of that as a firstear yard since it is brand new and since I just planted it. Also, I did that little dog fence area for us that was 100% bluegrass. The dogs have been pretty hard on it this season considering that we have not had any snow cover since sometime in December. So, they've been out on there. They've been digging around every once in a while and doing what they do. So, I'm going to show you kind of what I'm going to do to make sure we jumpst start that in the spring, uh, with it being blueg grass and with it being planted last fall. So, those are going to be a couple things. I do have one massive project on my mind that I'm going to kind of creep my way into here and see what's going to go on with that. But, I have so much to cover out here like I always do. So, we'll see what I can get into on filming some of that this season. But don't forget about the early season sale. Enjoy the warmer weather.
