“Be aware that the segment frames complex international relations and sovereignty issues as a simple battle between 'good and evil' to make military escalation seem like the only moral choice.”

Primary technique

Us vs. Them

Dividing the world into two camps — people like us (good, trustworthy) and people not like us (dangerous, wrong). It exploits a deep human tendency to favor our own group. Once you accept the division, information from "them" gets automatically discounted.

The content is a standard live news broadcast featuring unscripted dialogue, natural verbal fillers, and authentic human interaction between a host and a guest. There are no indicators of synthetic voice modulation or AI-generated script patterns.

Natural Speech Disfluencies Transcript includes filler words ('uh', 'um'), self-corrections, and conversational pauses typical of live broadcast television.
Interpersonal Dynamics The host (Rachel) and guest (Derek) engage in spontaneous back-and-forth, including direct address ('Rachel, thank you so much') and reactive agreement ('Yeah, it's incredible').
Contextual Nuance The speaker references specific, real-time events and personal anecdotes about speaking to Mexican citizens that lack the formulaic structure of AI scripts.

Worth Noting

Positive elements

  • This video provides a clear look at the specific military strategies and 'counter-cartel coalition' goals being proposed by the Trump administration.

Be Aware

Cautionary elements

  • The use of 'good vs. evil' rhetoric to bypass the legal and ethical complexities of launching missiles into a sovereign neighboring country.

The heart of our agreement is a commitment to using lethal military force to destroy the sinister cartels and terrorist networks once and for all. We'll get rid of them. We'll use missiles. If you want us to use a missile, they're extremely accurate. [snorts] Right into the living room. That's the end of that cartel person. President Trump vowing to use US military power to eradicate cartels and narot terrorists in the Western Hemisphere. The summit follows a joint operation with Ecuador that took down the Los Loos foreign terrorist organization and the killing of Mexican drug lord Eleno. Joining us now is Derek Maltz. He's the former acting DEA administrator. Uh Derek, you're the perfect guest. You have been studying and fighting cartel violence and corruption for decades. Have you ever seen anything like this kind of leadership from the US President Trump um and this joining um of alliances with all of these Latin American nations ever before? >> Rachel, thank you so much for having me. And the answer is no. I've never seen it. It's great to see this administration and the president keeping their promises, keeping Americans safety and security at the top of the list. President Trump is forming a powerful force of good to defeat and destroy evil. This administration's leadership has been unprecedented. And let's remember this, the cartels and our adversaries deal in death. But this administration fights for lives. Okay? That message is clear to the world. Pete Hegth, Marco Rubio, the president, the vice president, they've been really clear. They're not going to tolerate the death and destruction of this country. Right? This battle that we're in with the Chinese criminal networks and the cartels requires all expertise, all capabilities, and all authorities to defeat this en enemy. A uh Rachel, let me just give you quick couple quick stats. Just recently, the law enforcement community has been working so hard. 628,000 carfentinyl pills seized in California. That's 100 times more potent than fentinyl. Just recently this week, record amounts of meth seized Washington state with fentinol. California 2700 lb of meth and this dangerous lab in our backyards, conversion labs in Georgia. But the point is is we're on track now because we're using law enforcement domestically to decimate this these cartels. But now to have these countries uniting is we've never seen it, Rachel. >> Yeah, it's incredible. I mean, we're seeing these countries saying, "Yes, help us get rid of the cartels." I remember seeing Camala Harris saying, "I'm going to deal with the root causes of why people want to come to the United States." Guess what the root causes? Cartel violence. They couldn't live. These countries were totally dysfunctional because the cartels were embedded inside of the government and inside of their town leaderships. And nobody could operate a business without having to pay off these cartels. And of course, people want to leave a country that's run like that. I want to talk a little bit about Claudia Shinbomb. Um, President Trump has since he came into office, he's been offering her more than just resources. He's been saying, "Tell us where these cartel let us get in there and get boots on the ground um or drones overhead to get rid of these cartels." And she's been very resistant because I believe she's in bed with these cartels. And she's been cverty, Mexican sovereignty. today, you know, kind of keeping him at arms length with his um with his offer to help on the in the way that he just said at the beginning of this segment. And I've spoken to Mexican citizens and they have said, "We want that help. Um our country isn't sovereign. It's run by cartels." So, do you think she's now more isolated? I mean, you see this collection of other leaders in Latin America surrounding Trump saying, "We want to help. We want to get rid of the cartels." what kind of pressure is now being put on her to finally cooperate and uh with President Trump and and rid our closest neighbor um and and friends uh in Mexico of this scourge. >> So Rachel, that's a great point. So I know firsthand in February of last year as the acting administrator, I was at Dallasos airport when major cartel leaders including Los leaders arrived. So, President Shinbam, Omar Hoo have done a lot so far to actually remove 92 highlevel criminals into the US to face justice. But there is a lot of political pressure. But President Trump is working this beautifully because we're seeing a lot more work being done in Mexico. Obviously, you know, they've completely stopped the flow of migrants into America, you know, working together. And now we just have to keep the pressure. But as these other countries unite, as we saw in Ecuador, we're taking the fight right to the cartels. We can no longer be defensive. We have to be offensive and we have to go after these threats like we've never done before. So, I believe that things are right on track, not only with Mexico, but Colombia is another one. But let's not forget about the massive production of cocaine in Colombia. >> Yeah, no question about it. But I do believe uh Derek that as uh these other the citizens of countries say in Mexico and Colombia as they see these other countries like El Salvador and Ecuador rid themselves of these cartels um the demand uh for for their own leaders to do so is going to only increase. And so that's the good kind of political pressure we need. The people calling for it and I'll tell you in Mexico they're crying out for help. Uh Derek, so great to have you on. Thank you for your insight on this issue. Rachel, can I just say one last thing quickly? >> I'm asking the president to please work with Sarah Carter, have the same type of summit on the demand side. The kids need education now. It's too late if we wait. >> Oh, great point. We got to hit it on all sides. Derek, thanks for joining us. >> I'm Steve Ducey. I'm Brian Kilme. >> And I'm Anley Airheart.
