Analysis Summary
Fear appeal
Presenting a vivid threat and then offering a specific action as the way to avoid it. Always structured as: "Something terrible will happen unless you do X." Most effective when the threat feels personal and the action feels achievable.

One in 10 Americans have tried a gel P1 medication, which are these weight loss drugs. I'm concerned we're going to see a wave of people who've been on these drugs who end up in a worse place than where they started. >> Have you thought much about the impact of GLP1s, these sort of fat loss drugs, during pregnancy? >> Oh, wow. I don't think they're recommended during pregnancy. I hope not because they prevent you from feeling your hunger hormones. They prevent you from feeling hungry. So pregnancy would be a very dangerous time to take these. During pregnancy, you need to eat a little bit more in terms of quantity and calories, but also you need to eat differently. So you need to learn about the protein, the choline, the omega-3s, and I think it'll be quite dangerous to take a GLP1 during pregnancy. One in 10 Americans have tried a JLP1 medication, which are these weight loss drugs. It's crazy. >> And I just want to do a little announcement for anybody who's on these medications. What's happening is that you're losing weight, but you're also losing a lot of muscle. So, these GLP-1 drugs don't say, "Okay, you're just going to lose fat." You're just going to lose weight from all of your tissues. And then the studies show, the studies from the drug manufacturers show that when you stop taking them, you usually gain all the weight back and you only gain fat back. So, it's possible that after taking the drugs, you're in a worse body composition place than you were before. So, how do we manage this? If you are on one of these medication, it's very important to eat lots of protein. This is the only way you're going to be able to preserve your muscle mass. So, aim for about 100 grams of protein per day. So, four chicken breasts. This is super super important because I'm concerned we're going to see a wave of people who've been on these drugs who end up in a worse place than where they started if they don't have the amount of protein required to not lose all their muscle mass.
Video description
Jessie Inchauspé raises concerns about using GLP 1 medications during pregnancy, explaining that these drugs suppress hunger at a time when higher calorie and nutrient intake is essential. She also notes that while the medications lead to weight loss, some studies show both fat and muscle are lost, and weight regained after stopping can return primarily as fat. #podcast #heath
