Analysis Summary
Ask yourself: “Did I notice what this video wanted from me, and did I decide freely to say yes?”
Performed authenticity
The deliberate construction of "realness" — confessional tone, casual filming, strategic vulnerability — designed to lower your guard. When someone appears unpolished and honest, you evaluate their claims less critically. The spontaneity is rehearsed.
Goffman's dramaturgy (1959); Audrezet et al. (2020) on performed authenticity
Worth Noting
Positive elements
- The video offers a pragmatic, high-level view of how AI acts as a productivity multiplier rather than a replacement for developers.
Be Aware
Cautionary elements
- The use of 'revelation framing' to suggest that basic professional communication skills are a secret 'lizard wizard' technique available primarily through his paid curriculum.

So, let's answer a couple questions that were put to me. Uncle Steph, greetings from Athens, Greece. Do you believe that us front-end developers, it's time to go to the back end also now that we are ahead from AI? So, essentially, he's wondering if the AI uh revolution should influence his decision whether or not to learn the back end. I think you should you should learn the back end. You become a full stack developer as generally I've been talking about this way before AI. If you do full stack, it just opens up many opportunities for you. So you should definitely get into the full stack. I would highly recommend that you do. Second, you should start integrating AI into your workflow. What you got to understand, AI is not the doom of developers. AI is just a new hyperproductive developer tool set. Just like when React came out and Angular came out and Vue came out and I guess you can count on Bootstrap and jQuery suppose they uh abstracted away coding from the developers uh workflow so that you could become more productive producing applications. That is the key thing you got to understand. Remember developers are not paid because they can do lead code or because they can answer DSA quizzes. developers are paid to produce good applications in time as you become a more expens experienced developer and again this predates AI by decades um your value as a developer is defined by how quickly you can put out applications how well architected the applications are how well you can organize yourself and deal with other people communication skills are huge that's why in my mentoring program I have a whole module, a whole section called lizard wizard on communication skills. It's so important besides a whole bunch of other things that it does. So, of course, learning the full stack just opens up a lot of opportunity for you. It makes um the chances of you getting a job will increase quite a bit. But again, modern day developers today, I'm recording this in March 2026. Modern day development is going to be defined by people who have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of code as a foundation but more importantly you understand the modern day tool set. So it's used to be React, used to be Vue, used to be Angular. Now that's being replaced by a new level of abstraction. That's the AI tool set. This stuff is complex. That's the thing. Software development with AI tools are not it's not any simpler than traditional development with code. It's just far more productive. That's all it is. So if you want to get ahead, learn the full stack if you're a front-end developer. But whatever you do, learn to integrate AI into your workflows. The front end and the full stack developers, they're still going to get jobs. But the people who learn how to use AI to execute on their front end and full stack development, they're the ones who are going to get the jobs so much more easily and they're going to get the higher pay. Again, let me just close off the video by saying I think that this is the best time to be a developer in literal decades. I really do. And because the whole AI low code, no code, low code, no code paradigm, it's allowing for a whole bunch of hyperproductivity and development that A is going to is causing a lot of business to look at projects that they've been shelving or avoiding, but now they can do it. And B, it opens up a whole range of use cases, a whole range of things that you can do as a developer that you you couldn't do before. I'm Uncle Steph. I teach people how to be smart developers. I on YouTube. I'm here to try to convey my decades of experience as a professional developer and to teach you how to think like somebody who's a veteran of development. So whenever somebody tells you that, oh this language here is better than that language there, that's a tell. But they don't they're not really experienced developers. You can have a favorite technology you like to use. Some people prefer using I don't know C over Java or TypeScript over JavaScript or PG gray over MySQL etc and so forth. That's fine. We all have taste but at the end of the day these are all just tools. They're all just tools and a developer's job really is to be able to make smart choices about the tools that they're going to use. Smart developer understands how to architect uh and structure applications in a smart way. And today smart developers uh will use AI because a big role for you as a developer is to be able to make technology choices. Sometimes it made sense to work with uh React. Sometimes it made better sense to work with Angular. Sometimes it made better sense just to go vanilla with a little bit of bootstrap. Same thing now. Uh it makes sense now for you to understand the AI stack which is making developers hyperproductive. It's creating huge opportunities. Ignore it at your own peril. >> [music] >> I love you.
