Analysis Summary
Performed authenticity
The deliberate construction of "realness" — confessional tone, casual filming, strategic vulnerability — designed to lower your guard. When someone appears unpolished and honest, you evaluate their claims less critically. The spontaneity is rehearsed.
Goffman's dramaturgy (1959); Audrezet et al. (2020) on performed authenticity
Worth Noting
Positive elements

Transcript
So then guys, with the announcement of the new MacBook Pro with the M5 Max and also the new MacBook Neo, great news. The benchmark scores in Geekbench have leaked for them and today I want to share them with you because they are absolutely incredible. Take a look right here. This is the likes of the MacBook Neo. We've had the score in. They've come and comparing on Geekbench right now. And as you can see here, in single core performance, it's really strong with a score of about 3,500 or almost 3,600. And then in multi-core performance, it's about 9,200 or just over that. What's absolutely incredible. And I first of all want to talk about the MacBook Neo scores and then I'm going to share with you the MacBook M5 Max scores. So let's begin then with the Neo and let's have a look at some comparisons to how it looks compared to other Apple devices out there. So first of all, let's check out single core performance. So what we've got right here is we've got a chart of single core performance and you can see here very relevant here the MacBook Neo A18 Pro is in this citrusy kind of yellowy green kind of color. But have a look at the scores comparing here. Have a look at the likes of say a you know M3 MacBook Air that only got 3,120 whereas the MacBook Neo here has got 3,584. It even outperforms the iPhone 16 Pro with the A18 Pro. What is super impressive and you can see it's only just behind the single core performance of an M4 MacBook Air. And as we know the MacBook Air with the M4 chip, it's no slouch in single core performance. So just opening up, you know, browser tabs or opening up say Safari for the first time, opening up pages, Word, you know, the things what the MacBook Neo is designed for in single core performance. This is going to be no slouch whatsoever. It's absolutely perfect. The kind of scoring we're getting here. Now obviously the MacBook Pro M5 score you can also see in this chart. Obviously that is far more higher and we were expecting that. Obviously this is a newer generation of the chip. The A18 Pro is last year's kind of chip. So obviously yeah we knew that was going to be a higher score but overall this is still super impressive what we are getting with the Neo for single core performance. But then next of all what about multi-core performance? Cuz do you remember the A18 Pro is made up of a six core CPU. So what we've got there is four efficiency cores and two performance cores. So remember compared to say the M1, the M2, and all those other ones out there, remember they were made up of four efficiency cores and then they also had four performance cores. It wasn't until we got to M4 where that's been pushed out even further where we get six efficiency cores and four performance cores. So, just bear that in mind. But have a look at the scores right here. And again, this is really, really impressive. The A18 Pro on the MacBook Neo has scored 9,239. Obviously, this is way ahead than M1 MacBook Air, what a lot of people were afraid of. Even the iPad at the moment we have right now with the A16, you can see that we're almost like about 50% more performance than what we had with that one. And even look at the M3 MacBook A. Again, no slouch out there. But the score isn't that far behind. And that's 12,000. This is 9,239. But you get the idea here. People have got M1 MacBook Airs right now are not complaining about multi-core performance that it's too slow. So this is really impressive. Again, it is super impressive to see how it's even outperforming the iPhone 16 Pro or the A18 Pro. And even looking at this chart though, obviously, you know, we do have the MacBook Pro with the M5. We're talking about double the score here, but still this is still very impressive for what the Neo is going to give us and everything that we're going to get with it and all the kind of task what this actual product is designed for. But then the last thing that you guys probably want to see is what about say metal score as well? But what about say graphics? What's going on here? Cuz obviously you know this is MacBook is not intended for high intense graphics tasks or you know full-on 3D gaming. It's more for games that you know might have come out on the iPad or the iPhone at the same time. And you know it's let's see what we're going to get here. Let's have a look. And as you can see right here, yes, it is a little bit behind. Now the MacBook Neo obviously is the second to bottom of the chart. And it's saying that the iPhone 16 Pro A18 Pro average kind of score is around the same. It's at 32,000. I think if we run a few more benchmarks when it comes out on the Mac near the A18 Pro, we would probably even hit or could even overtake that iPhone 16 Pro. Remember, we've got the same amount of GPU cores. So, it's a five core GPU. It's exactly the same. But overall though, it's not that far behind even the M1 MacBook Air. And again, that is no slouch out there either. So, yeah, it's really good. But you can see the differences that obviously you know the M4 MacBook Air is almost double the performance whereas the MacBook Pro M5 definitely is even more than double the performance what you get in say metal GPU performance. But again look at the iPad 11 at the very bottom. You know if you played some games on that you'll know you've had no problems whatsoever. So again for playing games doing basic kind of graphic graphics kind of task and things like this the MacBook Neo I don't think it's going to have any problems at all. But then next of all, a lot of people have been asking, "What about the MacBook Neo? Being it's got an A chip in it. How does this compare to the competition out there?" Because obviously Windows devices, surely you can buy them for about the same price and they perform better. Well, I've had a look comparing some of the kind of Intel and AMD kind of laptops that are out there right now for the same kind of price range. And you know, what do we get there? Some of these Mac laptops, you know, they're plastic. They cost about $500. Some of them are even a little bit more like close to about $700. Got bits of metal on them as it were. They're half plastic, half metal. Uh but they're much more thicker. They're not unique as it were. They've got a worse screen on them and things like this. But the point is, how about performance-wise? How does the A18 Pro show there? Well, let's take a look right here. And you can see that the A18 Pro again is no slouch. Look at the top part of this chart here. This is the single core. And you can see compared to even a AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 7540U, you can still get this in the shops right now. And yeah, single core performance on the MacBook Neo is way out in front. And remember, this is important for opening up things like Chrome, Safari, Pages, Word. They use single core performance to do those initial bits and it's way ahead here. Even compared to the Intel Core Ultra 5, you know, this is the 135U, way ahead. And even looking at the multi-core performance here, look at the A18 Pro again. It's still leaps and bounds ahead. It's way in front of the Ultra 55 135U. It's way in front of the Ryzen Pro 7540U. This is a real screamer in multi-core performance for the price range. And like I said, you are getting a beautiful new MacBook in its design and you're getting a great screen, too, and everything else. So really, it is a definitely a good device. It's looking really good. And most importantly for most people out there, it also runs Mac OS, not Windows. So yeah, this is also really going to help out too. So moving on, let's talk about the M5 Max then. And let's talk about then what's happened here cuz we've again had leaks in here. You can see it right here. Here's the single core multi-core performance. You can see we're getting 4,340. what is super impressive. And then we've got 29,333. That is the fastest multi-core performance we have ever had before. Even faster than M3 Ultra. And we've also had another benchmark here for metal GPU. 224,000. Again, the fastest, most powerful GPU we've ever had in a Mac chip. And I know what you guys want to think next of all is what does this look like then compared to other Apple products out there. Well, this time I'm going to put all those three. I'm going to put single core, multi-core, and GPU all into one chart. And let's have a look at the difference. Come have a take a look at here. And you can see that the M5 Max in its 18 core CPU, we're getting scores of 4,340. And obviously you can see that is way out in front here of the M4 Max and on the you know likes of the Mac Studio and the MacBook Pro definitely beating out the M3 Ultra because remember that's using single core M3. So we are way out in front here in that kind of performance. Then look again at the likes of what we are getting here in multi-core performance. Remember, you know, the M5 Max 18 core CPU. This has got less cores than what we have with the M3 Ultra. The M3 Ultra, if I can correct it, I think it has about 32 or 36 cores. I can't remember the exact amount. The point is this is an 18 core and yet was still higher. 29,333 compared to the M4 Max on both the MacBook Pro and the Mac Studio. Again, we are way out in front here. And this also gets me excited for the likes of an M5 Ultra, what kind of scores we could be getting around in that. We could probably be getting something in say the 50,000s, I reckon, in sort of benchmark score. So, this is super exciting for this. But going back to the charts again for metal score, well, you can see again we are definitely out in front of the M3 Ultra. Remember the M3 Ultra that has the likes of say an 80 core GPU whereas the M5 Max has a 40 core GPU. So half the amount of cores and yet it's overtaken it. It's out in front. This is super impressive. And again, compared to the M4 Max, look at the score difference here. Definitely the GPU is definitely way faster than what we were getting with the Mac Studio and with the MacBook Pro with the M4 Max. But again, the next question you might be asking is, well, how does this compare to the competition? Now, what I'm not going to do is I'm not going to compare this to say a Thread Ripper or say to, you know, a Intel kind of server sort of style chip out there. What we want to compare this to is your standard normal chips that you can buy out there. So, like from, you know, the AMD kind of like 5, seven, 9 sort of ranges. The same with the Intel. You know how you've got the Ultra 5, the Ultra 7, the Ultra 9. Let's have a look then how this compares. Well, we can see in single core performance that the M5 Max is way out in front again. 4,340. Apple always lead the way in single core performance. And yeah, we are way out in front than the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, what is a great chip and also out in front of the likes of the Ultra 9 285K. I know it says 385K. My apologies there, but it is the 285K. I'm going to say the Arrow Lake. We don't have the 385K out at the time of making this video. We know it's probably going to come, but obviously, yeah, it has not overtaken that. And the same with multi-core performance. Again, look at the difference. 29,333. That Intel i9 285K, remember not free. Uh the Aro one, 22,689, whereas the AMD Ryzen is only slightly behind that chip too. But we can see that the M5 Max for CPU performance is way out in front. But then the other thing that you guys might be asking us about is what about the likes of say GPU performance? What about open CL and metal kind of scores what we got with the M5 Max? Well, take a look at this chart right here. So, you can see here a score that we had that 224,437. We showed this compared to other kind of um Apple devices. So, obviously Metal is exclusive to Apple chips only this benchmark score, but Open CL scores have also been leaked out there. And you can see that the M5 Max is slightly behind the likes of an RTX 57 laptop GPU, not the desktop version, the laptop one with about 12 GB of RAM inside it. This is a median score of the laptop GPU. So, there are some slightly high, there are some slightly lower. The point is though, if you do a median kind of score, you get about 148,000 around about. The point is is that the M5 Max is just slightly slower than what we're getting right here. It's very comparable. Obviously, if you were doing similar tasks on both, it depends on the app software on what differences you're actually really going to see. But overall, guys, those are the leaks of the new benchmarks for the Neo and for the M5 Max going inside the MacBook Pro. And I, for one, cannot wait to do more tests on it, more benchmarks. I'm super excited for it. And I'd love to know your thoughts on these scores. What do you think? Are you impressed by the Neo and the M5 Max in what we're getting here? Well, let me know your thoughts in the comments below. And on that note as well, guys, it's time to wrap up the video, too. So, if you have enjoyed watching it, please do press the like button.
