Analysis Summary
Ask yourself: “Who gets to be a full, complicated person in this video and who gets reduced to a type?”
Us vs. Them
Dividing the world into two camps — people like us (good, trustworthy) and people not like us (dangerous, wrong). It exploits a deep human tendency to favor our own group. Once you accept the division, information from "them" gets automatically discounted.
Tajfel's Social Identity Theory (1979); Minimal Group Paradigm
Worth Noting
Positive elements
- Highlights specific FOIA-obtained police emails warning of the suspect's danger and his extensive 30+ arrest record, providing concrete case details often underreported.
Be Aware
Cautionary elements
- Us vs. Them framing that portrays political opponents as directly responsible for deaths to evoke tribal loyalty.

Heartbreaking news to report to you this morning regarding an illegal alien who killed an American citizen at a bus stop in Fairfax County in the state of Virginia. This is just the latest blow to sanctuary city policies in a soft crime. Democrats, let's hear more in this story now. Take a listen. >> An illegal immigrant with a long wrap sheet charged in the fatal stabbing of a mother at a Virginia bus stop. The case is igniting outrage after the suspect was repeatedly released from custody despite warnings from police. Our Rich Edson has more from Washington on that for us. Hello, Rich. >> Good morning, Sandra. Newly surfaced emails show police warned last year that releasing this suspect would mean he'd hurt someone again or worse. They say that's what happened. Police now accuse Abdul Jalo of murdering Stephanie Mter at a bus stop last month in Fairfax County, Virginia. Fox 5 and DC obtained internal county emails between police commanders and prosecutors. one from this past November where police questioned whether prosecutors could enforce a previously suspended sentence for Jalo. Someone they say had an extensive escalating history of violent criminal behavior. And that quote, "It is not a question of if, but rather when he will maliciously wound or worse again. My role of keeping the public safe prompts me to follow up on his status." All right. So, this piece of scum who should have been off the streets and in a prison uh once again has done a unthinkable act, a senseless murder, something that could have been preventable if these far-left lunatics would exercise some level of common sense. Here's what he looks like. And here is who his victim was. Her name was uh Stephanie Mentor. remember that name because I think this is going to get much more attention and it should uh because again all they had to do was keep this person in prison. But what do these judges do? What did the prosecutors do? They dropped the charges in the name of empathy. I think we should change it not from suicidal empathy but to fatal empathy. And maybe some of these people should be prosecuted, meaning prosecutors for gross negligence. this is a public safety threat and they let him back onto the streets. Now, how did that all happen? Well, they ignored the emails from the police department. Take a listen. >> And tonight, we have proof that Fairfax County police warned Fairfax County Commonwealth Attorney Steve Esgano's office over and over again about this illegal immigrant, Abdul Jallo, who has a lengthy criminal history in Fairfax County. Police told Disgano's office that if he was released back into the community, he could harm someone again or even kill someone. So, these emails lay out police concerns about this. And despite those warnings from police, Dano's office dropped charge after charge, allowing this man to walk free back into the community. Now, the first email was sent in May. Then another in August, and finally in November, just 3 months before the murder of Stephanie Mentor last week. And that last email, a Fairfax County police major wrote to Dano's office, quote, "I wanted to bring Mr. Jallo's release to your attention because Mr. Jallo is one of the repeat violent offenders we discussed when we met. I wanted to get your background on why he is out so soon and ask if his prior suspended sentence of I believe 5 years was pursued by your office. Unfortunately, based on the station's numerous dealings with him, it is not a question of if, but rather when he will maliciously wound or worse again. Now, when we say that this was a preventable murder, a senseless murder, uh, and it's gross negligence on behalf of the district attorney, just read the information on this screen. This man had already been arrested 30 times. Five malicious wounding charges, meaning he attempted to kill someone in January of 2023, and February of 2023, in April of 2024, in May of 2025, and August in 2025. Then he also has four assault and battery charges, theft, vandalism, and drugs. What more information do we need to convince a district attorney to lock up scum like this? I'm telling you, local elections matter. How many times do I have to say it? This is a prime example. Now, this is happening in the state of Virginia, and we know who just became the governor. She doesn't believe in sentencing these people. That's why she already has it on the books of changing sentencing laws. This is exactly what you get with sanctuary city policies and farle Democrats. >> The first email from last May said much of the same thing. Fairfax County police emailed top prosecutors in Dano's office saying Jallow has a long history of stabbing community members has shown a blatant disregard for human life and is a danger to the community. Now, Jalo has more than 40 past charges in Fairfax County, and Disano's office has dropped almost every single one. Police say that they've had more than 100 counters with this man who DHS says is in the country illegally and he's been in Fairfax County since he was 9 years old, an illegal immigrant from Sierra, Leo. Now, if you want to read all the emails we obtained in this Freedom of Information Act request from the police department between the police and Disano's office, you can go to our homepage, wja.com. Reporting live in Richmond, Nick Manox, 7 News. >> All right, Nick, thank you. And we will be checking back in with you at 5:00. Now, in light of these developments, we want you at home to weigh in. Take out your phone. You can scan the QR code on your screen to answer our question of the day. Is the Fairfax County Commonwealth Attorney doing enough to protect the public? We'll be updating the results through the evening. You can find this poll on wja.com. Right now, overwhelming 98% of people have responded no. >> Now, let's just take a moment to also mention the other reality that people in Virginia are facing. That referendum to redistrict that state. Yeah. It's been passed and approved by the Supreme Court. Yeah. Of that state. So, it's going to happen. So, when you're hearing stories like this, best believe more of them are going to come because they're going to make sure that state is completely blue. However, if you were smart, you could have been using koshi.com the entire time to bet on that fact because koshi.com is a prediction market. And right now, they're giving $10 off to anybody who wants to bet $100 using my promo code D'Vor. All you have to do is just scan the QR code or click the link in the description below. But again, you can essentially bet on politics. You could bet on sports culture, cryptoclimate, economics, anything you think could be something that is predicted. More than likely, it's on koshi.com. Check it out for yourself. Again, promo code D'Vori, they'll give you $10 off on your first $100. Yeah, I think that poll is absolutely accurate. I don't know what the 2% are doing. I don't know why they feel like Fairfax County is actually keeping them safe, especially when you hear stories like this. But if you're not stunned already, I think this will do it for you. So, the lieutenant governor was confronted by reporters at the courthouse and here was her response when they asked her about all of this. Take a listen. >> I'm Nick Manak with 7 News. Just want to get your reaction to the murder of a woman in Fairfax County at the hands of allegedly an illegal immigrant. What is your reaction? >> Lieutenant Governor, what's your reaction to this murder in Fairfax County? No response. What do you have to say to the family of Stephanie Mentor, Lieutenant Governor? That is their response. You see, when it comes to American citizens being killed by illegal aliens, they almost have contempt for this stuff. They share no empathy for American citizens, but they have plenty of empathy for illegal aliens. It's it has gone so far to the point where they don't even acknowledge these senseless murders. They offer no response, but they want me and you to believe, and especially the people of Virginia, that ICE is the problem, that ICE is the one killing American citizens, that ICE is terrorizing neighborhoods. That seems like a individual who had been terrorizing the community uh in Virginia. But hey, I'm the racist one. I'm the bigot, right? Okay. Uh let's go to a more disturbing detail. So, you already have no response from the authorities. He's been arrested over 30 times and released. They were warned that he would do this again. They ignored that warning. And now when it comes to honoring an ICE detainer to get his ass out of this country, nah, they don't want to honor that either. Take a listen. Now, the local sheriff in Fairfax County could simply choose to honor ISIS detainer and hand over this individual to ICE. But the governor tonight is saying that I should take that extra step, overcome that extra hurdle, get a judicial warrant to hand over this individual. And this individual's name is Abdul Jallow. He's accused of stabbing and killing Stephanie Mentor of Fredericksburg at a Fairfax County bus stop in Hibau Valley. The US Department of Homeland Security says Jallow is an illegal alien from Sierra Leon who entered the US illegally in 2012. We checked and Jallow's criminal history includes more than 30 arrests for more than 40 charges including rape, malicious wounding, assault, drug possession, identity theft, trespassing, lararseny, firing a weapon, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and pickpocketing. A Fairfax County Commonwealth attorney, Steve Dano, he dropped multiple charges against the man, allowing him to walk free. It's absolutely unacceptable that after 40 offenses, including five malicious woundings and a rape, that you've got somebody like this on our streets. Somebody that just committed a crime in January, assault and battery crime in January on our streets. >> This individual is a menace to society. and Steve Dano has given him chance after chance to go out and wound people, terrorize communities, and now he took a life. >> Now, as a careful reminder here, it's been weeks since the governor decided to end all cooperation with federal authorities, and then you have this senseless murder. You see, all you have to do is judge what's happening based on the results. Don't jud don't don't judge things based on your ideology. Don't judge things based on tribalism or how you feel emotionally. Just look at the results and ask yourself, what is this telling us? Innocent people are being killed because local authorities are not allowed to enforce the law. Even if the officers arrest the man, it doesn't mean he's going to be locked up. Again, local elections matter. Which is why some people in the state legislature of Virginia has been saying these exact words. Take a look. Just weeks after Governor Spamberger chose to end the Commonwealth's cooperation with federal immigration authorities, a woman is dead, killed by someone who should never have been free to walk our streets. That's not a coincidence. That's a consequence. I've heard my colleagues across the aisle say they don't want icemaking arrests in public places. Well, fine. Then let's do the responsible thing. work with federal authorities to detain and remove violent criminals while they're already in custody. That is safer for our communities. It's safer for law enforcement and it's far more the responsible approach. If anyone on the other side of the aisle occurs concurs, they should vote no. Thank you, Mr. >> Yeah. So, as you guys can see, the state legislator, the Republicans are trying to introduce legislation to uh obviously bring back the cooperation with federal immigration authorities for this story right here. It's a prime example. And this happens literally, guys, every week in our country. Some stories actually go reported, some stories do not, but it's happening every week. One murder is more than enough. And I've said it from the very beginning. I've been very consistent on this. If you're gonna scream and shout over Alex Prey and Renee Good, you better be shouting over Stephanie Mentor. All lives matter equally. That's the bottom line to it. And if you're not going to recognize the senseless death of Stephanie Mentor, then you are the problem. That's as simple as I can make it. Now, a potential solution moving forward could be what Tom Hullman was able to accomplish in the state of Minnesota, which is even if you're not going to hand them over, could you at least just notify us? >> Why was this person on the streets to begin with? >> The litany of failures here is just legion. And it just plays to all of the uh points of failure that we talk about so often on the air. First of all, career criminal in and out after violent felonies. He keeps getting released. Number two, entirely deportable after 2020 when it was a final removal order. Nobody deports them in the ensuing four years. And then finally, this adherence to sanctuary policies where the workaround here has already been established. And that's the Minnesota method. That's what we got essentially out of the whole mess in Minnesota, which is all right. If we can't get you to honor the detainers because this this tension between the federal and the state law relative to federal detainers being civil, at least cut the deal that you'll notify us, which doesn't implicate any of the protections that Minnesota was hiding behind. That's the homeman deal. Spamburger won't even commit to that. All we're asking here from the federal level is when you arrest them or you got them, notify and I will come get them. That way it's controlled. You're doing it from agency to agency. worst of the worst go out. That's like a 9010 issue. Problem solved. Yeah. They just won't do it. >> And this leads me to the most important question is like, why won't you guys do this? Why won't you make this a priority? Oh, that's right. Because we have district attorneys today prosecuting the police officers for saving lives. Did you guys hear about that? Yeah. In the city of Austin, the district attorney is investigating the officers who killed that terrorist. Okay. This is this is how crazy it's gotten. This is why I scream local elections matter. This is why we have to push back on progressive policies in cities that are being governed by these farleft lunatics. And that's exactly what they are. Sounds like hyperbole, but when you hear stories like this, only a lunatic would release this guy back onto the streets. That's how I feel about it. That's how I see it. Let me know how you guys uh see it as well. Just put your thoughts and everything you guys have to say about this entire story in the comment section below. Now, let's go to our next story. Democrats were humiliated in the Senate last night when they attempted to block the president from executing air strikes against Iran moving forward. It's called the War Powers Resolution Act, and it would ban him from any more uh military action. Well, it pan out for them. So, if you guys are interested in seeing that video and much more, click on it because it's coming up right now. [music]
