Signals

The content is a classic vlog featuring authentic, unscripted human interaction, natural speech disfluencies, and real-time problem-solving. The presence of specific personal anecdotes and spontaneous environmental reactions confirms it is human-created.

Natural Speech Patterns Transcript includes filler words ('um', 'uh'), self-corrections ('I think I missed that one'), and situational commentary ('parking is tough here').
Environmental Interaction The speaker interacts directly with vendors in real-time, negotiating prices and reacting to the physical environment (traffic, U-turns).
Personal Narrative Mentions specific family preferences like 'missing the mint tea from Philine' and buying 'extra for the kids'.

Worth Noting

Positive elements

  • This video provides specific, localized price data for produce and staples in Madinah's traditional markets, which is highly practical for prospective expats.

Be Aware

Cautionary elements

  • The 'challenge' format naturally incentivizes the creator to find the lowest possible prices, which may create an overly optimistic view of the average cost of living.

Salam everyone. So, how much does 50 USD get you in groceries in Medina? So, today in this video, we're going to do a challenge, a $50 challenge, and we're going to see how much groceries we can get for 50 USD in Medina. All right, so our first stop is going to be Medina's farmers market. Um, this is the place where you can get the cheapest, you know, like groceries, produce, uh, even meat. They have a lot of meat shops and fish shops and seafood. We're first going to start with the produce. So, we're going to drive to the produce area. All right. So, first we're going to stop at this cuz since we do miss the mint tea from Philine. So, we're going to get some nana. >> All right. So, this is this is for like one real here in the produce area. We're going to find parking, which is tough here. Everyone double parks and like you just got to wait for parking. >> So, our produce list is avocado, cauliflower, squash, carrots, cucumber, apples, bananas, garlic, lemons, and bell peppers. Let's see how much this will be. >> We just got down. You just go in and a bunch of people start calling you in. They start saying like, you know, "Hey, come here. You know, I got the best prices." So, we just got to just walk in and like see how it goes. Our first stop is going to be at this uh place here. Um so, we're going to get squash. All right. So, we got the carrots. We got two of those peppers. Um pusa the carrots. We got the squash. We got the um >> eggplant, bell peppers, uh are we going to add cucumbers anymore? Going to get garlic as well. All right, so we're going to get the lemon here. kilo. Kilo. All right, we're going to do 1 kilo of um of lemons, which is 10 real kilo. All right, so this looks like it's around like 1 kilo of cucumbers. And then we got the squash here is like another half a kilo. So probably like half a kilo, half a kilo each actually. And then we got 1 kilo of lemons. And we got uh I would say like half a kilo of the garlic. And then bell peppers. I would say less than half a kilo. And we got the uh we got the carrots. I would say like around half a kilo. And then we got the eggplants which is less than half a kilo. All this cost us 35 real guys. 35 real. Over here we want to get avocados. Okay. Comes mosquito. Mosquito. All right. All right. So, we're going to get like around 15 apples here. All right. So, this looks like it's >> Nos. All right. 2 and a2 kilos. We also want to get these Saturn peaches. Um, this is like something extra that we're going to get for the kids. All right. So, 1 kilo of salad peaches. All right. So, we got 1 kilo of these the salad peaches. All right, we are almost done. We're just going to get bananas and we are out, guys. All right. pay. All right, so 2 kilos of bananas. This guy's going to hook us up with a good discount. Good deal. >> Oh, yeah. All right. So, it's going to be all this for 50, guys. All right, guys. So, we are all done with produce. We got everything off the list except for cauliflower. I think I missed that one. But everything here from both sellers came out to a total of 85 Saudi real, which is equal to 23 USD. All right, so we are done with the produce. Now we want to get some meat, some chicken. So we're looking for like a meat shop here in Super Four. >> Meat zone. >> We got meat zone. We got to make like a giant U-turn because just like we said, traffic inefficiency. So that U-turn was closed. So, now I have to like possibly leave Suku Sal to make a U-turn. I don't even know. And we found a U-turn, which is at the exit of Sukong. Going to go back to the meat shops. We got like a huge chicken shop here. We're looking for like chicken breast and like chicken tenders, but I'm not sure if they sell that separately. They probably do yet. We're walking in. So, we're looking for like got tenders and breast. All right. So, all right. 500 g, which is what? Which is half a kilo. All right. We're going to grab like three of one of these. And we'll get like one of these as well. All right. All right, we're going to get eggs like 17 real or one. The total comes out to 56. >> All right, so now we are heading to a supermarket to just grab some essentials like uh milk, bread, just some snacks. We're going to see how much we're going to spend. We have 50 real left to spend here. So, let's see. Grabbed chicken patties for 16 real. Then we went and got some honey. Uh this bottle was 10 real. Then we got barbecue sauce for 5 real. Then we headed over to the tuna and we grabbed three cans of tuna for 12 real total. We didn't need any this time, but this giant bag of pasta, 8 kg for 9 real, guys. And then we were running out of peanut butter, so I grabbed another jar. And this jar was only 6 real, which is a steal. And then I went over to the bread section and I grabbed a loaf of bread. And this was 5 real for the bag. Then I grabbed some uh hamburger buns for six. All right, so we've completed our challenge. Here is everything we got for around 50 USD, which is about 190 real. Guys, I think this is a really good haul. What do you guys think? All right, so that's it for this video. I hope you guys enjoyed watching. If you guys have any other challenge ideas, please leave them in the comments below. Um, we had a really fun time trying to stay within budget while still getting things that we needed.
