A new report claims special operations could include a raid on Iran's nuclear sites, which would include sending ground troops into Iran to seize and destroy key nuclear sites. Our next guest wrote that report. 74 White House correspondent Shelby Telcott joins us now with more. Uh thank you so much for joining us this morning, Shelby. So um tell us what, uh based on your reporting, what exactly would that look like? >> Yeah. Well, first the standard caveats apply, right? Which is that nobody truly knows what President Trump is going to do. That's by design. But what we can say is that one option at the president's disposal, one option that's on the table would be for him at some point as this war continues to send in special operations units into sites like Eshvahan, which uh the nuclear site in Iran. Um, and one of the most notable things I think that I found out through my reporting is that these special operations units, Delta Force, they've been training for almost this exact scenario for a long time. So, they are at the ready should the president decide that he wants to pull the trigger on this option. >> So, President Trump was asked about this and I want to play that clip real quick >> to find out about that. We haven't talked about it, but uh it was a total obliteration. They haven't been able to get to it. And at some point maybe we will, you know, that' be a be a great thing. But right now we're uh we're just decimating them. But we haven't uh we haven't gone after it. But something we could do later on. So obviously this would be something that would uh have to come after completely securing the area but but we don't have any [clears throat] idea at this point whether it would even be uh what the makeup of such an operation would would look like whether it would be um uh foreign foreign troops or or or what that would look like. >> Correct. And there's the option for both. As I also reported, we were hearing from former officials that this has actually been an option on the table for years. For many prior administrations, we were told that during the Obama administration, actually, Israel went to them and proposed having Israeli commandos go on the ground to raid some of these sites. And then during another prior administration, US Central Command actually did develop a plan for the US to put boots on the ground in these areas. But when I'm talking uh to sources about this and about whether it would be possible, one thing that they point out is a lot of questions would have to be answered, right? As you said, are the situation on the ground, is it going to be uh okay for people to go in? Is it going to be safe for our troops? Are we going to be able to have superiority in the air? Are we going to have to bring some materials in order to dig out? Right? These are materials that are deep underground. So, there's a lot of questions that the administration has to answer, but what's clear from that clip that you just played is the president really isn't ruling anything out in the future when it comes to Iran. >> Indeed, Shelby Telcott, thank you for your reporting and thanks for joining us. >> Thanks. >> I'm Steve Ducey. I'm Brian Kilme. >> And I'm Anley Airhart. And click here to subscribe to the Fox News YouTube page to catch our hottest interviews and most compelling analysis.
