Happy Wednesday night, my friends. Thanks for taking the time to watch this video and hopefully I can teach you a couple cool things or entertain you or something something. I'm going to do my best for you. But I'm Kurt with Kurt's Card Care and uh welcome to Wednesday Night Live. And thank you guys for coming to hang out tonight, man. I got a little variety like usual looking around. I got got some chrome cards today that I uh pulled out of the pack that had scratches. So, I just marked made some notes you guys because I want to talk about scratch removal tonight and realistic scratch removal. What types of scratches you can get out cuz when you have something called scratch remover sometimes it's I'll get people show me humongous scratches and say this won't go away and I'll be like yeah I know Logan and Coco are in the house. What's up you guys? You guys here to hang out tonight? Logan, you gonna be good? Coco's always good. All right, so we got the dogs. All All my dogs are here. Good to see everybody, guys. Thanks for taking the time. Josh, what's up, man? Robert, what's up, buddy? Good to see everybody. And then you guys, tonight I got some, you know, it's fun to get Pokemon cards that are like real beat up, but the story on these is they're not real beat up. I don't think we're going to find out because my um I have twin boys and they both like uh Pokemon cards and my son uh one of my sons is more into it than the other. And he's um wants to get these graded and I like that, man. I like having my sons understand like currency and grading and value and stuff like that, you know? So, I'm cool with that. And what I did though was they used to give me like a stack of cards and say, you know, I mean, I would go through them for them and tell them, you know, what's what's worth grading, you know, cuz with with modern Pokemon like this, I think it's kind of like you got to get a 10, you know, at least hope. So, I said, "Guys, go through them for me. Um, I want I said I had my sons like pregrade them for me. I said, "Make sure there not any chips around the black the back border and I'll clean them up for you." Cuz as you guys see, like they play them a little bit. They play these games with their friends. My sons are teenagers, but um that's what these are for, right? But they're also for collecting and grading. So, we're going to just do some minor touch-ups there. And then if you guys like, you know, this type of stuff like I do. It's a five first edition. And I thought I love when I look at this. This is how I look at these on online. And um you know uh when it comes to these, look at the back how it said like I don't have any I didn't see any of the paint chipped off. It's a five, you know. So I was like, "All right, cool. Let's buy it and see what's happening." So we'll take this out of out of the case. Take a closer look. And um Hey, Justin. What's up, man? Good to hear from you. And then this right here, you guys, I'll never stop buying 1989 upper deck Ken Griffy Jr.'s. That's like the That's like the Mickey the 52 Mickey Manel to me growing up, man. Like this is coolest card ever. Um, but what uh you know was a four and I can tell by looking at it that it's not the best centered card, but I thought, man, a four, I'd rather just take it out, [laughter] keep it in a four, but we'll see if we can make some improvements on it. So, that's what we're doing tonight. All right, guys. So, I hope that's cool. And if that stuff interests you, you can stick around. And if that stuff u if you hate all these cards and you don't want to learn this stuff, this is your time to go. You can hang out. You don't even have to watch this craziness. Um, so Zach, I just uh read a message from Zach that says, "Uh, Kurt, I can't for the life of me get my heat press to go below the factory setting of 200 degrees Fahrenheit." I'll tell you guys this what I've learned. I got a good heat press. It works, but I noticed that heat presses are probably in the 95 percentile they work on the first round. I bet 5% of these things won't hold. They bounce around. They're made for t-shirts. Maybe that's cool for t-shirts. Um, but you know what I mean? Like if if you guys get a humid or not a humidor, heat press. If you get a heat press and um it is bouncing around temperature- wise, send it back. Cuz I don't know. I I don't mine I just I've had mine for probably three years. I just set up I just set the temperature and it just stays. So, that's what it should do. Okay. And yeah, Eric, I I had a message from Eric. Eric asked, you know, can you give some tips maybe on getting a dent out of a three- ring binder um on Pokemon? Yeah, you guys, like something that's helpful. If you guys don't mind, let me show you something because I have a lot of teaching videos and I don't think I'm ever going to stop making them. I really freaking love making card care videos. So, I'm probably going to be doing that a while. And but I want you to be able to navigate them so they're just not like randomness, you know, like kind of YouTube or not YouTube, Instagram. It's kind of like my journal, you know, whatever I'm working on, I'll post. But when you, my customers, are like, "Well, that's fine and dandy and all, but I want to go see some stuff." Here's what I want you guys to do. Okay? Go to my YouTube page. There's that guy. You'll know him. And then click on the word playlists. And that's where I keep everything nice and organized. So like if you want to work on some gaming cards or whatever, you know, I have them all listed here. So like here's all the Wednesday Night Live stuff that we do the recaps and then whatever, you know. So just know that you guys all the stuff like so if you just want to focus on scratch removal, I got that there. If you want to watch vintage card stuff, we worked on that one last week, remember? So, make sure make sure you guys uh go to the YouTube channel if you're customers of mine and you need some teaching demonstrations or if you just like to watch that stuff, you know what I mean? So, I keep it all there. But, um what I want to do tonight first you guys is just jump into um let's take a look. Um we'll do a couple recaps real quick and then we'll work on a couple of these Pokemon cards. Um, I want to show you something. Um, I'm going to show you guys something over here. So, this was, if you remember last week, if you guys were on the show last week or watched the show last week, I want to show you a couple follow-ups. So, this was our Blastoise, and it came out real well, you guys. I did a whole video on um, let me turn this off here. I did this whole video on um Instagram and on the socials last week. So that was the card that we did last Wednesday night. Got a got card spray on it. Then I humidified it, heat pressed it. It came out fantastic. So that was the uh Pokemon card that we did last week and like remember it had when you guys see like crap on a card like this, clean it off first before you do like any of the pressing or anything like that. You don't want to press that into a card further. I don't [clears throat] even know what that was. It's weird looking. It was like um some sort of food or something probably. But anyways, we cleaned that off. It came out nice. And then you guys remember this one last week. We had Jonathan Hamilton Edwards and all the pencil mark. Check it out. I was able to get like get it to look like that again. So, that was the befores and afters from last week. Yeah, it does look like nacho cheese, Ben. It probably was. It was something like that. But that was that was that. And then Oh, you guys remember I don't know if you watched the video. I um this was one of our Wednesday Night Live cards. I No, no, it wasn't. I just did I have a video of this. You guys might have watched it, but uh that was one of the cards we cleaned up and I got graded again cuz I'll get people ask me, "Can you clean a card and get it regraded?" And I'm like, "Yeah, you know, just don't don't overdo it." You know what I mean? But like, yeah, you can do that. So, that was a good one. And then you guys remember we did this one here on the show. Had a little scratch on MJ. We did recovery on it. And I got that one graded, too. And I got that one in nine. So, that one came out nice, you know. So, those were just a couple follow-ups. And, uh, I wanted to show those to you guys because you probably watched the videos or hung out with me here while we were doing them. So, I think it's fun. I wish that grading a card didn't take so freaking long, man. Takes forever. And it's like all these cards that I get are they're fun, but they're project cards. I don't want to go pay hundreds of dollars to get them back in a day or two or whatever. But, um Oh, that's hot. Let me take this lid off cuz I got to drink this before it gets too late. I'm going to be up all night. But, let me turn this thing around, you guys, and we'll get us started here. Now, I know that here here's the part that I was kind of having a dilemma with. I was thinking to myself, you know, I think that I I personally always like to do a bunch of fun before and after stuff on these shows, but realistically, I think a lot of my customers are a lot of people have near mint cards that they're wanting to get like a nine or a 10 on, right? Let's just say a 10. So, I get that. So, we're going to do some scratch removals tonight. We got a a a Pokemon five. We got a King Griffy 4. So, we got some stuff that we're going to get to, but let's get to the more because a question I a couple questions I get asked. Do I have to prep every single card that I get sent in for grading? And I'll say if it needs it and you can be like, what does that mean? Well, if you if it looks fantastic on the front and back, I don't really know what to tell you to do. I make card here. And here's another thing, you guys. I just want to kind of bring it down, keep it simple a little bit because you got to have a good foundation to do anything great with conservation or preservation or cleaning or things like that. Especially with cards, they're so small, they're delicate. But my my whole thought process on this one was talk a little bit about card spray and card polish because sometimes I'll have people say to me, "Well, I know I'm not supposed to put card polish on a Pokemon card." And I'll be like, "Whoa, why? Why? Where'd that come from?" There's a couple there's a couple surfaces you got to avoid, but like 98% of Pokemon cards, card polish is fine. Card polish and card spray are cleaners. They're both cleaners. And I wish I could just combine them and just make them one, but it would this doesn't work. I had I had to I used to when I started cleaning cards and working on cards years ago, you guys, I'd have like five, six different things out. This for this and this for this and this for this. When I started making my own products, I'm like, "All right, I need one product that is going to be great at cleaning organic crap because like all of my years of cleaning carts, nacho cheese, blood, boogers, atmosphere, human [ __ ] human stuff, you know, stuff that not hopefully not literally human [ __ ] but just human [ __ ] You know what I mean? Like, you know, stuff. And so card spray is going to crush organic stuff. foods, beverages, um the gum stains that you guys see that will get the gum and all the sugar and all the crap out. Killer at that. Organic stuff, polar stuff. Now, when it comes to the card polish, sure, that can make a card nice and clean and shiny. It does that. But what it also does is it's going to attack all the non-polar stuff like waxes, residues, sticky stuff. So when you put card spray and card polish together, you got a real strong mesh system that's going to clean physically anything that landed on the surface of a card off. All right. So like um you know, so when somebody wrote to me right here, One Piece cards, the back of the card doesn't like card polish. No, no, no. It it it likes it. It's fine. You just got it lightly damp and it just takes a moment to dry. So just make sure you're following and reading along with my best practices because if you're new to card care, that might surprise you. But if you're old school card cleaner and Pokemon cleaner, one piece cleaner, that ain't It's normal. Cards get wet. My stuff is both made, it's moisture based, so you're gonna get stuff wet. All right. Uh so anyways, let me uh get started here. All right. And we'll work on these. And here's something you guys I want to show you. Um well, what is it here? I want to show you something on my website. So on my website, you guys, you go to customer resources and when you go to the blog, I like blogs. So you guys, when somebody has told me that they got a can't use card polish on a one piece card, yeah, you can. But that's why because look it, they get damp on the back. All right, but look at this. This is the Pokemon cards pregrading checklist blog. Stuff that if you want to get cards graded, follow my advice. you know, it's not it's not complicated, but you just got to pay, you know, pay attention and look at all these free resources I have hanging for you. All right, so just make sure you use that stuff, okay, guys? It's all there for you. And let's get to some card stuff. All right, so now let's take a look. So we got a couple of these here tonight. Let's just take them all out first. That's what I want to do. And you guys, we'll use a little bit of everything tonight. All right, because I'm thinking we'll probably have to. Let's just start with these. So, these are I think these are fairly new. 24. All right. So, the devil's in the details on cards like this. So, like I always hold them under light and just make sure we don't have any stuff on the front because these came from my 14-year-old twin boys. So, they played them so they could have stuff on them. I didn't see anything on the front. And I did have my sons look at these before they gave them to me. So, I said, "Don't give me anything with like chipped up edges or corners cuz there's not a ton I can do with that." Okay, that's just light hitting it. All right. So, I don't see like any dents or dings. I'm looking for more like ding dings or dents or stuff on the surface. And this cool light right here, you guys, is why I get that nice reflection that I don't even look at the card. I'm just following. I just watch my my fuzzy diffused circle. That's that's all I'm looking at here. Sometimes I'll have to look back at a card and go, "Oh, I I did clean that card or I do know those cards." I never even pay attention almost to the character or the surface because I'm just or the uh actual art. I'll look at that later, you know. But this all right looks good. But here, I can tell you this. It's hard to film you guys, but I got little fingerprints. I got little stuff around them. So, just like just a wipe down. I don't think they I don't think we really need to. Here's I can tell you this. They don't need they don't need scratch remover. I can tell you that. So, if you guys are keeping track at home, we don't need to use any scratch remover on there. And if anybody's like wants to see more uh like gaming card work or Pokemon stuff or whatever, visit my uh YouTube page and click on that playlist TCG anytime you guys. I'll always add to it. So, the first what I'm going to do, guys, what good general practice just wipe these off. Like, wipe them off. I'm just going to spray a little bit of card spray on here. And I also don't like to if you feel comfortable wearing like rubber gloves or something, be my guest. I don't have anything against that. It's just not super comfortable for me cuz I just like to use a penny sleeve like this. And I find that to be fine. And I like a mat, you guys, cuz that helps you not have to go down and like pick up a card like that. So, I know this is so basic, but trust me, it's the worst, man, when you like ding up a card with like your fingernail or something like that. So, you notice how I always pick it up like this. I pick it up and I bend it so that way I'm not putting a weird death grip on a card. All right. Um, if anybody's asking me specific questions right now, respectfully, I probably won't be able to give you a long answer. Um, I appreciate you asking, but it might be something you just have to ask me uh off the air cuz I saw one that was like, "How do you do this, this, and this too too much? I can't I'm not good at doing too many things at once." So, you enjoy the show and I'll uh I'll try to answer specific stuff for you later or, you know, I got my smart friends on here. If anybody feel free to answer if somebody has more experience with a the question, I appreciate the the group the group effort. So, nothing major stuck out to me on this one. Right. So, like, but the question was that I get asked every day, do you prep every card you send in? I think the answer is yes. I think that if I had to answer that question, the answer is yes. because knowing that like I don't think I mean there's I'm sure there's always somebody that's done it more than you, but I I've graded cards for like 20 years and I swear that I'm just I just feel like grading services get stricter and stricter and more like bizarre with their grading that you better be taking the best care of these things possible because literally with like these here like from a value perspective with how much grading costs if these things don't at tens. It's like, what's the point of even getting these things graded really? You know what I mean? I just say, boys, keep them and keep playing with them, you know? So, I'm just going to give you guys these a quick polish up cuz they have a really nice shiny surface. And so, I am just going to clean these. And I think I know how to say this name. Magneton. I think I know how to say that one. Pokemon names always screw me up. But I think I got this one. And we're going to clean the front and the back of it. And then we'll move on to a couple other things here. And I'm hoping you guys I can get the back a little bit wet just so I can uh show you guys what I'm talking about if you ever get a Pokemon card wet. And here's the thing you guys, like I I try to give you so many um tips and advice and answers and answers and I love doing that. So, you can always ask. But the thing is, I need you guys, too, to get a base card and work on it. Cuz I'll get somebody send I'll get pictures a lot where, you know, I'm graceful and always polite cuz I appreciate your business and I appreciate the questions, but you got to be a self feeder, okay? This is not something you get into and just want to ask a million questions. Like, get hands on. Like, get busy a little bit. Get working. You know, I'll get pictures where it's like a minute little dot and be like, "Can you fix this? Do you think it's fixable?" It's like, "I don't know, man. Get out your tools." and start working on it. Frankly, you know what I mean? So, don't let uh don't be uh frozen with ifs and wonders. This is easy stuff, man. Everything I know how to do is easy. I promise you. Figuring it all out was fun and tricky, but like just, you know, using the products and trying to see if stuff is cleanable or fixable. Just get busy, man. And if it's something I don't have a video on, maybe just practice. uh get out because you know there's gonna be new cards that come out like one piece I don't know all the one piece cards but the ones I have are are built like gaming cards so they're not like they're they're fine you know they have a hard finish on them and I want to do the back of this one too and see now I I'm look I see something on the back of this one I'm going to show you guys where it makes me wonder should I even try or send it to Becket. Hope for the 9.5 or something because I just I see something here that doesn't look fixable. Oh, you know what? Never mind. It was just a It was a streak of card. I thought I had a white I thought I had a white spot right there. It was just card polish. Never mind. So, I have no fingerprints on the back. I'm watching the edge. You can't really see fingerprints on this shiny metal, but I'm just making sure the edges look good. So, that's about it. That's all I would do, you guys. That's it. You know what I mean? Like, that's pretty much it. Like, there's not really a whole lot to do. Like, if you ever wanted to get like the um Looks good, you know what I mean? It's pretty much mint condition. But that's that's what all I'd want you to do when you get to your newer cards is give them a good look over. And then here's what I want you to do, too. I want you to let them sit. So, we're going to move these. I think I saw something I want to show you guys. Let me see if I can find it. I might see something here. And welcome everybody. You guys, welcome to the live show. I appreciate everybody being here tonight. And let's just scope to the uh microscope because I don't want to send in a card to get a nine on these new cards. Look at that. See, look at this, you guys. That's the stuff that's freaking annoying. That little stupid thing. I don't think there's any possible way to get a uh nine or a 10 with a white dot right there, you know? I just I just don't even think it's possible. So, I'll figure out if it makes sense to send this in. But like I that that's why the microscope is awesome, you guys. Because if you didn't know any better and you started coming in here, start trying to pick at something like this, it's just going to get worse. So, that that has that. This one has four. This one has four blue corners. So, that one's good. But, you know, again, the I say the the devil's in the details on on these grading these cards. And could it get a 10? Maybe. But, I doubt it. I would doubt it. I'm always realistic, you know? It's like I'm never emotional about card grading or card collecting. It's like it either, you know, it's either it's going to work or not. So, these are clean. We're cool there. But I think that one with the white dot on the corner, I'd hold back from getting it graded. I would just because I mean, maybe in 20 years from now, if an eight or a nine is worth a lot of money, great. You know what I mean? But in the meantime, I'll say I'll I'll say one of these out of the two looks good. All right. So, I know that's a minor thing, you guys. Not a big before and after, but I hope it helps cuz if you start adding up grading costs, man, you don't want to be throwing a bunch of money into a never- ending pit just to get a You don't want to pay $30 for a stupid little plastic case if the card's only worth 15 bucks when you're done with it. You know what I mean? So, let me put these down over here. And I'm And here's another thing. Best practices. I'm not going to put those in penny sleeves and um a card saver yet because I used card polish on them. And card polish, even though they didn't look even though they didn't look um wet, if you put it in a in a sleeve when it's damp or wet, the sleeve will get all wrinkly like that. So, if you ever come back in the morning, your sleeve looks like this, it's because it was damp with card polish. Let them sit. Let them sit. Let them evaporate. Um we'll do Let's see. Let me take a look here real quick. Let's do these two, too. I want to do um let's do the Umbreon and the Drowsy. Let's take a look at these. Let's do this one for sure. Maybe we'll get to the Drowsy here in a minute. But this one's cool. This was the one that my son likes the most. And you guys, I do get because that's another thing I've had people say to me, "Hey, is it okay if I use card spray or card polish on a textured card?" Absolutely. Absolutely. These are cool, man. I like this Umbreon. It's a good looking one. Yeah, [snorts] you guys, a a microscope is a really good move. And they're not expensive. Can you believe that? This thing right here, um, this microscope was like $130 or something like that. It's freaking awesome, dude. It's like huge. Look how big this thing is. It's like bigger than my hand. It's awesome. Yeah. So, if you guys like to grade cards and you're uh you like card prep and everything like that, I'd get one. You know, they're they're basically free. You know, they pay for themselves. All right. I'm getting another card mat because I want to take a look at this one with you guys. All right. I see something. I see a spot on it. We'll see if that's missing paint. This is like the nons sexy side of card care, you guys. Like the devil's in the details. Like looking for crap like this. You know what I mean? So, it's like I will put that up there now. And I don't like to pick at stuff with my fingernails. So, always just come in here with like a little Q-tip. There we go. Cool. All right. That was just nothing. All right. But I've learned, don't come in and pick at stuff with your fingernails. It's almost like your first instinct a lot of times with [snorts] card care. So, just take your time. It's a little fingerprinty on the back real quick. I'm just going to do a card spray. I'm going to try to like not touch this one much cuz this one looks real good. And thanks everybody for joining in tonight, man. It's great to have everybody here. So, you saw like I did, right? Remember, pick up your pick up your mat. Don't pick up your card, you guys. Don't stop the habit of this stuff. Don't do that. And look at I keep my fingernails cut short, too. You don't want long fingernails, you guys. I swear you'll you'll mess stuff up. So, just remember, pick up your mat, pick up your card. So, we got the back clean. Let's do the front. It's still damp, so we're cool there. These things are fingerprint machines, so just wipe it down on the front. And these always look nice with a simple card polish. So, let's do that. And then you guys stick around because next I want to good get over here and do um I want to talk about scratch removal and especially like more specifically pack cards that come out of the pack factory damage uh is what I want to focus on because I think that's where you know from a manufacturer and running a business like this when it comes [snorts] to scratch removal I want to keep on defining like what's what's doable. Now, the thing is just try it. You'll find out real quick cuz it's hard for me to look at a picture and say yes or no. But I want to teach you how to go after them. And guess what? You'll find out in about two about two minutes if the scratch is going to go away or not. And it either is or it isn't. That's it. You know what I mean? That's it. You know, did did you say um Feb that you stopped using gloves because you you caught one on a a corner of a card? Is that what you're talking about? Because Yeah. Um I definitely um can relate to that, too. Yo, Randy, you having fun in Florida, man? I'm tell my mom and all the ladies I said what's up, man. I hope you guys are having a good time. It's cold here in Michigan. I'm jealous of the Florida crew, but please tell everybody I said, "Hey, I'm coming to Florida in a few weeks, man. I'm coming to Fort Lauderdale." So, I cannot wait to get some warm weather around here. Or well, not around here. That looks sharp as hell, man. I know it probably looks the same to you guys, but it's clean. That's screaming good. This one This one I have a a good feeling on. Hold on. What do I got down there? Got a little bump in there. Oh, this. No, it's card polish. That's why you want to look at everything in your light, guys. See that? See that? You don't want to miss that. I tell you what, this this $20 light is the [ __ ] All right. This is This is how you catch all that stuff, you know? So, there we go. Um, Stellar asked me a question. Can you talk about encapsulated offging? I have no idea what that means, man. So, maybe hit me up after the show. I can't get into that right here because couldn't say I'm a a pro on that. But, could could somebody clean a card wrong? For sure, dude. Of course. There's no uh there's no uh doubt there, you know? So, but yeah, hit me up after the show. Maybe I can help you out. So now you guys, let's talk about um but if you're asking me, dude, if uh he cleaned a card and then by the time I got to PSA, are you if you're trying to tie in did my products like cause some product inside the PSA slab? No, not even close. The chemistry of my products would that would never make sense. That would never anything you guys ever use my stuff on, card spray, card polish, any of this, it's gone within a few minutes when you're done with it. So, it must be something, but it it wouldn't be uh Don't ever think for a second, you guys, this that something that's going to happen as time goes by. That's card scare, not card care. But people tried to trick you with that stuff before, but no, that that ain't going to happen. That is uh But if it's something like that, man, feel free to let me know. But no. Um so, next. Now, let's look at these scratches. I bought this a couple weeks ago [snorts] and I didn't get anything good out of it. I can tell you that. I suck it. Um I'm the worst at buying packs of cards. The worst. Every time I buy packs of cards, I get pure [ __ ] It's like a It's like a uh a curse. I swear to God. Like every single card that is cool I had to buy as a single ever. But the thing is I'm very specific as a collector. So I don't really care about other players except for the ones that I like the most. So what I want to do next you guys is show you the uh these these cards that I just pulled out of 2025 26 chrome. So, you know, it's rare. It's uh So, my PC, you guys would be Tom Brady at the top, vintage baseball hall of famers, vintage boxing Hall of Famers, and uh I like Kobe Bryant, I like Michael Jordan, I like Steph Curry. Those would be like the tops like in my mind. But like I don't have a ton of stuff from all those players, but I have some key stuff from those guys. Um, so you know, when it comes to uh, yeah, I suck at buying cards and I even bought some hobby boxes in the, you know, cuz like in respect to all my customers, you guys collect everything. Um, everybody on this video right now could be collecting something different. I, in fact, that's what makes this hobby so fun is you probably all do collect different stuff. So that's why I collect different stuff because I want to be able to provide crazy [ __ ] awesome customer support and know how to tell you guys the best practices because I know that probably 95% of my customers when they're a first- time customer, they never cleaned a car in their life. So like you really need some good support and good help. You know what I mean? So, uh, you know, when it comes to these these scratch type things, when you make a, uh, product called scratch remover, naturally, I mean, some people think literally every scratch is going to go away. So, let me tell you guys, it's not the case. And let me tell you this, my scratch remover on factory type scratches, I bet you there's more that you won't get off than you will get off. And even in cards in general, even in cards in general, cards that get scratches, uh, Tops Chrome cards, um, Prism cards, gaming cards, I bet you if you can see that scratch from looking at it like this far away, if you can see a scratch from this far away, I bet you it's permanent. So, I hate to burst your bubble and I hate to be the worst salesman in the world and tell you, trust me, this shit's magic. It's going to take everything, make everything better. I'm not gonna do that, you guys. I'm a [ __ ] collector, too. You know what I mean? Like, I I at least I have a tool now that can get all the light [ __ ] off the top. You know what I mean? So, I want you guys to hear me loud and clear that light superficial scratches on the top of cards can go away. It was a probably what, a month, two, maybe two months ago, I bought a box of these and I was opening them up on the show. Um, what' I get? We had 10 of them. We had 10 that had um scratches on them. I think we got three or four off, but I tell you what, I don't have any other product in the world that will get three or four of those off. You know what I mean? And yes, clean your slabs like crazy. Um so, you know, let me uh so that that's that's what I want you guys to know is uh it's it's it's good stuff, but scratches suck. You know what I mean? So, you know, that that's what I uh um anyways, I'll show you guys. Have you ever tested your products and tag you guys there? You don't have to test anything. Send your cards anywhere. Sure. I You guys, I have 100,000 plus customers worldwide. You know, tag. Sure. Of course. You know, I mean that you can send your stuff to any grading company. If you screw up a card, it's going to be right in front of your face. Right in front of your face. It's not going to be um some graater that has like some, you know, VR headset on that looks at the matrix different. You guys, it don't. It's not doesn't work that way. Your card literally gets to a place where they probably have a spec sheet from them. They look at the front and back. look at a couple pictures real quick and they pick a number and they move it along. You know what I mean? So, you know, it's just uh send it send your cards to any grading company you want and clean them up first or you're leaving money on the table. You know, I'll tell you that for sure. All right, so let's uh let's work on some of these scratches. And you know what? I bet you they're not all going to go away. I'll hate I hate to be a bummer, but I bet you they're not all going to go away. But these were stuff that I found coming out of the pack. Up top's chrome. All right, so let's see. For this one, I circled up on this edge and down here. All right, but you guys, here's the thing that I left out, the most important part. Um, I can teach you this right here. When I say it's not going to it's not going to um it's not going to take out every single scratch. It's not. But let me tell you this. You got to know how to use this. It's not like putting on card polish and wiping it off. All right, this is you literally have to go in there and buff. And I'll keep this brief. And uh you guys, what's up everybody? Thanks so much for everybody being here tonight. It's fantastic. So, thanks. Thanks for being committed to learning how to do card care and conservation like this. Um so, uh there's Chase. There's See, Chase, I knew I knew one of my homies would have the answer. There's the answer. So, yeah. And you know what? And you know what, Chase? I like that because tag is a great um they give great data, you know. So, like if you were putting some sort of makeup or some, you know, basement basement brew [ __ ] on your cards, a company that analyzes them so much, they would see it. They would see it. You know what I mean? So, that's why I always try to stress, hey, this this isn't something that's going to stay on there. You know, just you're kind of going in there and doing some work and getting in and getting out. but with a real scratch. It's a little light line, like a little rip in the vinyl. Because you know how you guys, all of these right here are plastic cards. That's well, they are plastic. And when you have a little rip in plastic, a scratch. When you guys zoom in on one of these scratches under your microscope, it almost looks like a million shark teeth. All right? Million shark teeth. That's what a real scratch is. It's a little rip. So, when you use a microabbrasive polisher to go in there, it rips off all the little shark teeth and sands them down, makes your scratch go away, and looks amazing. But if you have a card with a big ass line going through it that came from the factory that's not a scratch, rubbing a scratch remover on it, you know, really won't probably do a whole lot. Try it. You don't know until you until you know. But if you do that and you're like, man, I put three or four applications on [clears throat] here. It ain't doing nothing. Then it ain't scratch you guys. So, I just want you to know that, man. So, I totally care. And as the chef and as the person that sits and makes this all day and, you know, talks to all my customers, I just care. You know what I mean? I don't want to be a cheese ball and be like, you know, it's your fault. You should learn how to use it. I want to break it down better for you. All right. So, let me show you. Um, so let's see here. I see that doesn't look this does not look good to me, but it's on a card factory from the factory. I would say I would be surprised if that goes well maybe. Hold on. Maybe those I think would be possible. Let's find out. So instead of sending myself a picture and saying, "Hey Kurt, you think you can get that these will go away?" Let's just find out. Let's [clears throat] just find out. And for these, we got to be specific. So let me show you something. I I want to go right after these and let's get a let's get comfortable. So, I want to have the card like this. Okay. Let me try to get you a good view. All right. So, we're going after these scratches. So, I'll zoom back in, but I want to show you guys what we're doing. Get your recovery out. We're just going to do a little We got to be intentional on these things. Okay. So there's I got a lot of recovery. That's probably going to be more than I need for this whole card. So I'm going to put some right over here. We'll save some. I'm going to zoom back in. So I put a I put the little extra right there. Now for me, since I want to remember where these little scratches are, I'm going to mark them right now. Okay. All right. So there we go. And now, um, I'm going to go in here and I'm going to buff these little areas and see if we can get those little suckers out of there. Hear the sound. If you guys notice my hand, it's not all pressure. It's very gentle. Anybody watching this play the guitar and when you start playing the guitar, you're you're trying to squeeze the fretboard with your hand so hard you can't play it because your hand hurts so bad and you start loosen it up or anything you do. Maybe you play golf and you're squeezing the hell out of the golf club or whatever it may be. Just loosen up a little bit. I say don't scrub the you're not trying to scrub the sauce off the bottom of the lasagna pan. We're just trying to remove these little light imperfections. So, I'm using a Q-tip right here, you guys, because it's very spec I'm getting there's not a lot of room. Mike, you see this little area right here? I have to be very, very intentional on this because if I just start wiping in the general vicinity, and that sounds like [ __ ] [ __ ] I'm sure it does, you guys. But listen, it's I'm barely touching it. It's just it's just working, you know? It's just doing its job. It's going in there, buffing down buffing down the uh top finish there and just seeing if there's any, you know, little clingers coming out the top. All right. So, that's one. That's one. [snorts] Um Yep. When you're That's exactly right. So, Scuba, what's up, brother? So, like when you're working on scratches, that's the sound you want to hear because you know you're making contact and you know you're buffing. So, this is a pack fresh scratches or pack fresh marks, you know what I mean? And check. Oops, I wiped off all my extra recovery there. So, one one shot on these. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. zero. You and I wish I could have been like, "Hey, check that out." Now, don't worry. I got three sets over here. So, we're going to make something happen, you guys. It's just the nature of it. But when I see little sharp lines like like that one, I usually in my head think to myself, "Nope." Because it's weird. Look at it. Doesn't go anywhere else. It just It just touches that border. God, come on. In focus, please. And you will see these in Tops cards and in Chrome's cards or Tops Chrome Panini Prism. All right. So, I'm not done. I'm not done. We're going to give it another attempt. But I can kind of see the future on this. I don't think that this top one's going to go away, but let's just do another round here. Yeah, you guys. Right now, um, I'm working with scratch remover and I'm just trying to go after factory scratches. And I can also, guys, give you this advice. If you're shopping for cards and say or you got you're going through an old collection or an old box of older Chrome cards and you find some that have like been rubbing like you can tell that there's a little light play and little light scratches on them from just not being in the case. Those are awesome because they're not factory scratches. Usually stuff that happens to a card like I just poor storage is easier to fix because it actually happened to it. It wasn't born that way. When it's born this way, [ __ ] gets tough. All right. Q-tip is one of the things you can use for recovery. It's not always, you guys. I'm I'm trying to show right now stuff that works and doesn't work. And like you know cuz I'll get sometimes you guys will hit me up and be like dude I tried scratch remove around this 10 times and it's not working. I'll be like well it's not going to work then you know cuz look at I tried it two times and I'm good with this stuff and look at that. Not really not really going anywhere. And I think that if I sat here you guys and did that 10 more times I'm not going to get any better. you know, it's just it's just I'm not going to I'm not going to get any it's not that's not going to go away. Okay, so now if you're at home and you're like, "Dude, that sucks." Well, yeah. Take a second to say, "Dude, that sucks." But I'm going to tell you what, you don't need to go any further. It's not going to happen. You know, so there's that's good old factory quality or lack of quality. Carmelo Anthony. Let's take a look at this one. I got this one rolling all through his shoulder. Do you see how this looks different to me? I don't know if it's a scratch. I don't know if it's a part of the photo. I feel like it's part of a scratch. But I This came out all right, you know. So, let's take a look here. So, this is what I'm going for. And look how odd this is. This is a a new Topps chrome card. Look how odd this is. Look at this card. That's not what came on the pack. Like, isn't that weird? Like, it's like I could heat press that card. You know what I mean? Pretty strange. Oh, hey Mario. What's up, buddy? Good to see you, too, man. Thanks. And thanks to everybody for being here tonight, man. So, let me um So, let me show you this. So, look at this. Right here is what I'm going to try to wipe off cuz I noticed that when I pulled this card out of the pack. That's what I'm going for on this one. All right. So, let's do the same exact process. We're going to use a little bit of recovery. And for this one, you guys, I don't need to use a Q-tip if I don't want to. I can use um I could use a cotton circle. So, let's do a cotton circle cuz this one's kind of like and you guys sound. I love the card show t-shirt. [laughter] You guys are the best, man. All right, so come on, Carmelo. Let's see if we can buff this thing off your arm. I don't even know if it was a scratch. It caught my eye. I can kind of see it a little bit. Maybe it is a scratch. Maybe it will go away. Let me get another pass at it. And now I'm just going to go you guys and just kind of like buff over this a little bit. So th these are the things you guys you have to do with some of these scratches or weird blemishes. I love when stuff goes away real quick, but sometimes you just got to work these little suckers. And I'm not using any force, you guys. Like my hand, if I was using force, it'll be all tight, whatever. You know what I mean? Like this one's Look, this one's working. But did you see how this shape, the scratch on this one had a totally different look to it? It wasn't like um See, that's great. That's great. That's kickass. That didn't do [ __ ] Nothing. 0%. You know, tough, right? So, there's 50. So, we're 50%. Let's see how we can do. Let's do one more. And then this one looks bad, but this came out of a pack, you guys. Right now, I'm sorry. I am using uh recovery. I'm using scratch remover, you guys. So, this is recovery demonstration. Okay. So, let's But look at you guys. I'm going to I hate to guess, but I don't think that's going to do anything, but let's hopefully I'm wrong. You know what I mean? I don't know. We'll try. These are all cards I got of a pack just the other day. But I think that it would be normal for one of my customers to have that mark on a card right there and hit me up and say, "Hey, Kurt, do you think recovery will take that away?" So, let's I don't know. Let's find out. My guess is no. I hate to say it, but my guess is no. So, we're just going to use a little touch of recovery. Well, this gives me a good opportunity because when it's if you ever get recovery is like not not wanting to pump for you, you got to go in and put give it a little push at the bottom and that will get you back and pumping. Well, usually it should get you back and pumping. Let me try that again. And thanks for your patience with uh with this bottle, you guys. I used to put it in a uh 10 and then the 10 would get leaky and then the bottle is sometimes a little bit grumpy with the pump. But you see that? That gets it going again. So now we're back in action. Okay. So now um let's see if this goes away. And you guys bingo uh hit it on the head. Somebody said it looks like a printing mistake. It is. But you know it's like I don't get mad at guys that say, "Oh, it's a scratch." cuz what else are they supposed to call it? You know what I mean? Yeah. Who knows, right? You know, so let's see if this one goes away. It looks just like the same injury on my uh what was I on my Marcus Sasser, but we'll see it. It would It would be so funny if this one goes away and the Marcus Sasser one doesn't. So I could show you guys. Welcome to Card Care. So, if you guys ever send me messages, do you ever notice how I always say maybe or I don't know? It's because maybe or I don't know. It's the freaking truthful answer. Try it again. I could be wrong, but it might have improved. But it just looks like again like it's something got stuck in a machine or something just you know this wasn't ma properly uh like manufactured. But don't that's why all this stuff you guys is gray and none of it's black and white because I had if you guys noticed this last night one of my customers Terry if you're on here what's up Terry. Um, Terry had an optic. Um, Bo Jackson. And sorry guys, I know it's a horrendous sound, but that's the way it sounds. Kind of, but not totally. No. No. No. So that stuff sucks that, you know, so I don't think that's a failure. It's called a try. You know what I mean? But that that stuff, you guys, the best stuff that I the bone bow and chrome bow and chrome from the factory that has the uh um whatever you call it, the um long strips of scratches and stuff on it. Those are cool. You can usually get stuff off with those. usually real scratches that you know are the result of you know just play or handling or whatever like that come off a little bit better. So I got one out of three. So there's 33.3% tonight. I was good on scratches. All right. So now let's let's take a look at some other stuff. You guys got time to hang out? Let's let's do these. All right. So you know let's do that. Hey, if you guys Let me ask you guys something. if I if you guys don't mind helping me out um during the week or private messages, email, if there's anything that you guys really are into that you're like, "Hey, I'd like to see you incorporate this on a Wednesday night live," please do because I um I you know, I probably run into the same issues on cards that you guys do. But like the thing is um I love being able to like play requests, you know what I mean? So like let me know if there's something that you guys are would like to see more or whatever. I'm happy to to accommodate that. All right. So now so now let's let's take a look at these other ones. So Tops Chrome, but I'll tell you guys this. I can tell you this. Um, Tops Chrome. Overall, the quality control was really good. The quality out of these boxes at least. And I had four boxes. I took them all apart and put them into one. So, I got like four boxes worth of cards in here. You guys see? Like I got a whole bunch, you know? And these were like really the only three that had like shitty problems. Two out of the three are permanent. But overall, um, they did a decent job. But I don't know how many places print these cards and you know how many go times they run out at the store and they got to go make a new order of them or something. So I don't know you know it's just part of the hobby that we're in and part of the quality control. So that shows you recovery works and also it doesn't work on stuff. So I mean kind of like card spray, card polish or anything. It's like hope for the best. You know what I mean? Hopefully you can make some improvements. But now I want to talk about these. So Machamp 1999 first edition. I like that. And then 1989 first edition rookie card of Ken Griffy Jr.. So let's take a look at these you guys because I want to see if we can make some improvements here. That's exactly why I buy these. And I love buying cards like in middle grades. What do you guys want to do first? You guys want to do Ken Griffy or Machamp? You guys pick. I got to drink a I got a sip of coffee. We'll do whoever gets three votes first. So, you guys give me some votes and we'll pick one. And again, thanks everybody for hanging out tonight. I really appreciate it. It's really cool to see what a great community um it is to work on cards like this together. It's fun. All right, Machamp's the winner. So, we're going to do both though. So, everybody wins. Everybody wins. Everybody wins. We're just going to do one first. And remember you guys, um, the fastest way to open up an old PSA slab is to put your hand over it like this and say Curts card care three times. Remember, Curts Card Care, Curts Card Care, Curt's Card Care. And then you just do that and they open right up. So that's that's the trick. Okay? So make sure you do that moving forward. And they all open up nice like that. And but you got to say it three times. And you got to hold your hand right over it like that. So, when it comes to um this one, I got this on well, where did I get this one? What is this? I forget. Um Fanatics, I think. Fanatics, one of them. But if you guys want to see, I think, you know, a real easy way um to open these is um you guys, I'll hold my snubed tiles like this and I just walk around the back edge and just kind of like give it a little nudge all the way around and I just open it up like a clamshell. So, it's easy. Okay? So, just just don't don't say it four times, slab deck. Don't you be saying that four times. That's when things get real. So, you only say Curts here three times and touch right here. All right? I don't care if you're left-handed. You got to do it with your right hand. Okay. So, now I bought this because it reminds me of something that you guys would collect and show me and be like, "Dude, what should I do here?" [snorts] So, I bought it. You know, I'm like five, cuz you get a five at a deal. And when I was looking at it at the front, I thought, "All right, well, looks good. I don't really see a ton going on there." And then, you know, I looked at the um the back and I was like, "Looks pretty good." Like, it's a five, though. So, like, we're missing five points. Where are the five missing points? So, then I started digging a little bit deeper and I see that there's a bump. We got a little dent. All right. So, a little dent. So, I noticed that, but holy five, man. Um, maybe a little bit of edge wear, but the the only thing that I thought was like really Oh, I'm going to get into it. We're going to use We're going to use We're going to do a couple things, but it's a little See, watch my circle light. That's Hold on. Let's get some I want to get darker in here because I want to use the light better. There is a ridge. Do you see how the light gets kind of disturbed right there? There is a ridge, but man, that's like that's like a a five. Like, isn't that wild? Like, I think a five was like means half of it's like [ __ ] Like, I don't see a five, man. So, you guys buy some fives, you guys. Like, what the hell? You know what I mean? Yeah, John, right? Send it back to PSA, get a seven. I mean, I Now, I don't know if there's a big price difference between a five and a seven, but I don't know what the hell a five's for. But, let me show you something. This is why the micro this is why the microscope is cool. So, let's let's go up here. This is where I started seeing stuff earlier. Okay, check this out, you guys. This is this is the important part. Let me turn my light. So, cool. Yeah. So, Feb 69 judge said top and bottom's off center. Okay, I I believe you. I believe you on that. But then look at that. That's like a lot of the problem is the plastic on the front is like kind of degraded. It's not really scratched though. This is so important you guys. If I I love that you joined the live show for this stuff because it's hard for me to explain this stuff on a video. Well, like if I edit a video, but you because you see like the it's not scratches. It's like um it was like this. Oh, when I showed you guys, let me show you something real quick. Um, sorry. I'm going over here. Not not this Jordan. I just got graded. But if you did, if you haven't seen that one, guys, I had a scratch. We used recovery worked on that one. Yeah, recovery worked on that scratch. You know, I got that card to a nine. But, um, this one, you guys, the Lugia that I just got back, I got from a five to an eight and a half. This video is posted if you'd like to watch it. It had that same kind of crap. same kind of crap like that. And all I did you guys was um all I did was use card polish on it. So, you know what I want to do tonight when I see that? Here's what I how I want you guys to kind of like analyze stuff like this, too. The most simple things. The most simple things. Man, it might be fun to buy a heat press or a humidor or Curts card care, but like get good with one set of tools first. And if you're a Pokemon collector, I'm going to tell you what, learn, get good with card spray and card polish. I think that those would be like my standards because like you of course you can get into to the pressing and stuff like that. It's all fun and it's not super complicated. I like to say everything I can teach you guys is simple. It requires a little bit of practice, a little bit of learning, and a little bit of like watching some videos and that's it and you'll be cool. And some base cards. But like when you see something like this, you might think, "Oh, should I put some recovery on there and remove all that shit?" No, no. Let's save as much of that surface as we can. Let's save it. I don't want to like buzz it all off. If it looks like [ __ ] sure, we could go give it a surface correction, probably remove some of that, but like let's just before we do all that, let's just try to clean it up first. So, my goal with this one was the first thing that I think of this the holographic looks bad. The card is extremely clean. It didn't even have any of that those with a five. I think it would have all those moldy spots on the back and all that [ __ ] didn't have any of it. So, I'm thinking this roasted holographic surface is the culprit and that dent on the back. So, let's clean up the card. Let's just use card polish on it and then put it in the humidor. We'll put it in one of the humidors. Let me turn on my light over here. And then um tomorrow after it's nice and humid, I'll heat press it. I'll video that, too. Okay? And we'll do before and afters. Okay? But let me show you guys like what I'm seeing again. That and if you're like just joining in and you're like, "Well, what the hell am I looking at?" This rough area. It was a PSA 5 and it overall looks wonderful. It's just got some roughage pretty bad in there cuz it was played, man. I'm sure it was a card that was gamed with. You know what I mean? So, let's do our best to make it look better and save the plastic on there. Yep. I think that uh this is going to I think this one you guys will turn out really well. But like so again, I'm I'm just trust my view. I'll make you look at everything. It looks fantastic on the front. It's not a dirty card, but it has a lot of that kind of like breakage and roughage in it. This card polish, you guys, we're not using scratch remover. We're using card polish. This would be my number one thing I make for this type of product or for this type of issue. And like with the uh uh with like my recovery tonight when I went one for three, will it fix this? I don't know. I hope so. I mean, it usually does, but if it doesn't, do you know what I can tell you? Don't go any Don't go hardcore on this type of stuff. Be very careful with this stuff because if card polish doesn't bring this surface back to life, I wouldn't be putting anything on it more really, you know? I just kind of accept it. But Card Palace rocks on Pokemon cards. Let me just do a couple applications real quick if you guys don't mind. And you guys, this is the nonabbrasive formula. So, it's not like you're going to put too much on. It doesn't work that way. Once you get a card cleaned and conditioned, it's cleaned and conditioned. So, you can just stop. So, let me show you that. We just did two applications, right? So let's see how much good we have done in 30 seconds. It's freaking awesome. Like that's kickass to me. That was like to me right now as a person that just bought this card is a five. Um I'm like hell freaking yeah. Like that's awesome. Let's go back up here. I'll show you guys what I'm talking about. So, what was it? Just two seconds ago, we had all of the uh you know, all that problem area there. Look at that. Now, and you all saw it, right? I mean, there's there's no no [ __ ] That's that's it. Isn't that cool? Yeah, buddy. You guys, I'm I'm happy to do that, man. I appreciate you guys, too, man. I uh and uh yeah, boys, hit me up after after online, man. I collect with my sons, too. I'm happy to follow your page. I love that. But isn't that cool, you guys? Like, that worked, man. That was like two seconds. Hold on, let me I want to see something. Let's do a before and after real quick because uh I thought about um I don't see if I took any pictures of this one. Thanks for everybody hanging out tonight, man. I know I'm kind of going long, but I just like doing this stuff too much. I don't like rushing. So, thanks for hanging out. That's the great thing about Instagram. You can come, you can go, whatever, right? Oh jeez. But see, now I'm me over here trying to uh figure out how to uh look at my entire camera roll. Maybe I just uh I'll show you guys later. Oh, I know. Huh. >> [laughter] >> The older I get, I feel like my my my dad when he was trying to like use uh technology. Okay, so this is a picture from earlier today I took. That was all that crap, you guys. Up in the the the scratches. Look at Now let's go back to it. I took it from the same place that was uh So that's where we're at now and that's where it started. Like I like looking at that stuff. Like look how groy that was. And now not anymore. All right. So that I think is I think that's as far as I'm going to go with the Machamp because now we got to put it in the humidor. Okay. So let me get us set up over here. I got a humidor over here that I want to show you guys. Well, who cares what the humidor looks like? But I just want to get this set up. So let me turn this thing around. I got lots of I got lots of humidors, but let's use the top one because this one's good to go. And what we're going to do next here is I want to get the Machamp card that we just cleaned. I want to get it nice and soft. [clears throat] And sorry, the light sucks over here. Let's do this the other way. So, I want to get this now that we got the holographic part nice and clean. I want to get the card soft so we can heat press it because it's just got a ridge down the back. It's hard. It's hard, you guys, to like show you on the video, but just trust me on it. Like, that's that's what the problem is. I think that's reason it got a five besides that crappy finish. lock this thing up and it's going to sit there and tomorrow I will heat press this and I'll make the video. And hey Jay, these are all at the same temperature, brother, because my my room is the same temperature. Right now I'm rolling at 73° 35% humidity, which is a little low for me. I like 40% humidity, but it's just Michigan weather and that's the deal. So, right now we're at 7272 and I got 72% humidity, 70% humidity, and I got this one about 75%. All right, so that's what we're doing there. Um, so the difference between the two humidors is not much, you guys. This one has wooden walls that it's nice you can spray the inside of it. It gets real humid real quick. But my little plastic one, I freaking love that thing. You see that big ass grate I put in the bottom of it? I bought I bought these, you guys, on Amazon. They're big uh humidity blocks. Fill it full of distilled water. Put it in there. Boom. Lock that top down. You got you're card care heaven, man. You get you'll get stuff uh um humid real quick. So, what do you guys think? Like I know I got a lot of smart Pokemon people here. Um you guys think that'll be better than a five? You know, assuming I can press it fine and I'm sure I'll be fine. But yeah, I I think you guys think it's better than a five. I think it's better than a five. Um, you know, and yeah, distilled. But I think it's better than a five, you know. I good project for me, you know. So, and I like that you guys see it. So, you have the confidence to be like, what the hell? Why would I buy a freaking nine on this thing, you know? Let's buy a five and turn it into a card care project, you know what I mean? So, cool. You guys, you guys want to hang out? I got one more. [laughter] I got one more. Let's do the King Griffy Jr., let me clean this area up, though, because I know I'm not going to need any scratch remover. That's something, you guys, I would I know this sounds crazy, but look at this. This is a mess. Don't clean cards and keep on when you're going from one genre to the next. Take a second to clean your stuff up because I'll tell you this, the times that I make stupid mistakes is by leaving [ __ ] sitting around here and I'll bump something. and it will knock into a cart and knock it on the ground or something dumb. So, keep your work area super tight, super clean. When you have a used um cotton or whatever, just stop and throw all this [ __ ] away for a second before you keep on moving because you're just going to it's all going to start piling up on you. Yeah, I like I like Becket better than PSA. So, that's the thing is like I will uh I I'll get that card regraded again. Maybe I'll send it to PSA because it is sometimes fun to see the same. But the thing that the the collector in me, I like BGS because I like subgrades. I'm like a uh you know, I'm a I love data. I mean, how can I fight that? So, if PSA started putting four subgrades on here, you got me forever, you crazy crooked company that charges us crazy [ __ ] money for two cents worth of plastic and a quick opinion. You got me. You got me forever. But they don't put them on there. It's so stupid. You know what I mean? It's just like trust our holy score. I'd love to see the subgrades on this. You know, it's like maybe maybe this one's a maybe this one's a four. But you know what I'm saying? Like I've you guys want to like I'll show you something funny. Want to see something funny? I would say I'm pretty good at guessing uh grades by now. Like these were some these are like past projects. I feel like I could be the head grader at [snorts] PSA by now with looking at all this stuff. It's like I got I got bags of these things. But um you know, I'll tell you this, they uh it's grading is an inconsistent practice. It's a it's the the ends I guess kind of justify the means. But I tell you what, it is a it's it's a different hobby these days for sure. That's the old man and me talking. Sorry. But uh yeah, I um I definitely think that um you know, I've noticed the numbers stay the same throughout the years, but when the when grading was 20 bucks a card and it was back to you in a couple weeks or whatever, it's pretty sweet. Now it's like you get them back. I at least I get cards back. I got some of my cards back the other day. That's why I'll be posting some uh grading results. Um and I forgot the damn cards I sent in. I got one back and I was like, "Where did this come from?" And I looked it up. I had to I had to go into my phone and search the photos. It was a Charizard that we worked on here together. Stormfront Charizard, Japanese, whatever. And I got a um I got it back and I had to like look it up and I was like, "Dude, I sent this in to get gradient like half of a year ago." Yeah, dude. Rick started uh doing PSA at 550. I remember do my Becket orders used to be 15 bucks. I always use Becket. Anyways, let's turn this thing around. I want to show you why I bought this. I bought this because it's one of my, you know, just favorite cards of all time. And remember you guys, the way that we open these up. So, since it's a Ken Griffy Jr. card, we got to say Curts card care. Curts card care. Curts card care. Mecca like a high mechaine ho. And then when you do that right, you can get them to open up for you pretty good. Oh, it worked. Yep. Oh, hold on. Mecca like a high mechahee. That's what it was. That's how you do it. So, this is a four. And you can get a four for a very affordable price. By the time you get these cards back from PSA, they all have gone up in value because, you know, they just naturally raised in value because the time takes so long. Um, let's get this thing out here. And I'm going to show you guys what I'm seeing on this one. Oh jeez. I uh I'm amusing myself over here. Okay. Does anybody know what Mecca Mecca Hey is or Mecca? Mecca ho. Does anybody know what that is? Come on you guys. Where's my 80s guys? Denver, you know this. So I want to this is a good one to show you guys. So let's see. Mecca Leah Mecca hey was said by Phil Hartman when he was Peewee. That's right Mike. When it was Jambi one of the greatest shows of all time. Of all time dude. Pee-wee was like Peewee Herman was as cool to me as baseball cards. Anybody else out there? you know, like I um I I felt And then you guys, if you haven't watched this, the Paul Rubin's documentary on um it was either on Netflix or HBO or something like that. It's freaking awesome. It's so good. He was a treasure, dude. I really really liked that guy's courage and his badassness and he was [ __ ] funny as hell. And um so here's this one. Let's analyze it. It's a four and it doesn't take long. Let's look at our lights. Oh, I got a bump in it. See the big bump? It's not bad, though, because I don't see a wrinkle, but it's a bump. So, we got a bumpy finish. It's It's almost like, you guys, I have like almost like a print mark. If you can see it. Okay, watch my light. See how it goes bump bump bump. It's like a ro. It's like a What's the word I'm looking for? A metaphor guy. What the hell is it? Speed bump. Speed bump. It's like a speed bump. Bump. Bump. Going all the way across there. Then when we get to the back, there's a big ass line. It's like it was put in a um pinched in a case. You guys see that one? Yep. And then Oh, did you see something on his chin, Ed? Let's take a look. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's where that bump is. So, we got the road bump right there, and we got that big ass indent right there. Do you guys know that Peewee's Big Adventure, the first Pee-Wee movie, was directed by Tim Burton from Beetlejuice and all the amazing Tim Burton films. And um it was his first shot at producing a movie. And Peeweee, like Paul Rubin, like said, "It's it's him or nobody." And talk about a magic producer for Pew's Big Adventure. I just love that stuff. I love creative people. So, let's do this, you guys. You know what we're going to do here? We're going to do a semi soak. Man, this should be easy as hell. All right. Easy as hell. So, let me show you what we're going to do. We're going to get two pads, two plates, and four clips. Two pads, four clips, two plates, and call me in the morning. That's it. That's the prescription. Okay. So, we're going to do this and this and um so here's the concept. Do do you do you Denver do you know that Peewee Herman's that that so I won't too long of a story but the amazing part of Peewee Herman's Big Adventure is all about that bike they were right Phil Hartman and Peewee wrote that movie together. So Paul and Phil Hartman wrote that movie together and they said that they got to like middle of the movie they were just they they're running out of juice and then the cast bought that bike for Peewee and Paul's brain started moving and they trashed the script and rewrote that whole movie based on that bike. I love I love cool [ __ ] like that, you know? I just love art and magic. It's just keeps me going, you know? So check this out, you guys. We got that wobbly front and we got that long ass dent in the back. I feel like what we got to do is we got to get it a little bit wet with card spray. It's all going to be compressed and held and so when it gets wet, it's going to loosen up and it's going to take take the nice flat shape and then we're going to hold it and then tomorrow I'm going to look at it and it's going to be better. I feel good about this. The tricky thing though is that line on the back is big. This is, but remember you guys, this is just plan A, you know, like plan B could be do another round. It could be supplement with some humidity. I saw Denver say humidor time. You're right, Denver. I could go to the humidor humidor with this. But I think I can knock this thing out with a card sandwich and card spray. I feel we can do it. And since I got everybody here hanging out and watching it, let's do it together right now. And I think I could follow up potentially as early as tomorrow or the next day predicated on everything going like according to plan. All right, dude. Large Marge was awesome. If you guys haven't watched PeeWee's Big Adventure, go watch it again with Fresh Eyes. And it's freaking brilliant. There's such so so much of a story inside the story, which makes it so kick-ass. And I love how Tim Burton was like, I wanted to make peewee. You can't tell if he's a boy or a um and you can't tell if he's a boy or a man. Like you can't tell his age. And he couldn't fit in in a world that wasn't pee-wee world. So we had to make all the characters kind of weird. And I just love that. I'm like, dude, I just don't have a skill set like that. Um so just to see people come up with characters and make [ __ ] up and make movies. How fun, you know? How cool. Be creative. Whatever you're good at, do it. You know what I mean? So let's do this. I I'll let you guys get to it. I know it's been a long night, but thank you guys for hanging out with me. I look forward to it more than I can tell you. And here's what I I want to do. Um, all right. Let's turn this thing around because I don't want to I don't want to card spray up there. And I want you guys to see how I do this. So, when I do this, I'll just hold my Well, I'll get a mist there. That was like six. I like that. That felt good. That felt good. All right. And [snorts] I'm looking for a mist. I don't want to see a puddle. See sparkles. That's what I want. And an 89 upper deck card is thin and you don't want to soak it. But you sure can get these things semi- soaked like this. and they turn out freaking awesome. Hey, Stephen Busttos, what the hell's going on, man? It's been months. Where have you been? Welcome back, man. I'm glad you're here. You You're jumping in at the end. We did a lot of stuff tonight. So, you guys are welcome to start it over. I'll post it live in its completeness and uh I'll follow up with I'll follow up with the Ken Griffy Jr. tomorrow and I'll follow up with the Machamp. Now, that Machamp I got a heat press because it's still wobbly and um I'll get to it. So, I'm going to follow up with those and I know I crammed in a bunch of stuff tonight. You guys did. Now, I'm going to look over to my monitor. You guys, did I did I answer most of the questions? Well, Denver, thanks so much for helping out. Mike, thanks for helping out. Scuba, you're a rock star like always. Um but thank you guys. And if you haven't watched a show, a live show before. Thanks for coming and watching. I think it's probably the best because I've had people ask me, can you um are you going to do like any seminars or like a place? I don't feel like there's anything I could do better than this. And I frankly I think I'd be anxious and nervous. Like if I feel like if I had like this hall or place rented out and then I got to have like a what are y'all in seats or something like that? I don't know. I feel like I'm a teacher of a class like in a classroom setting. I don't feel like it would work well. I think when I can show you guys exactly what I'm doing here and like all that stuff. Uh let's see. Is my champ curly? Let's take a look. Let's see. Let me turn this thing around. I'll show you a little bit. We're getting a little bit of an arch. But I think you cuz like just being able to go over there and show you guys that and being like in my studio where I can show you all my stuff, I don't think there's a better way I could do it. So if you guys don't mind listening to me overexlain [ __ ] and kind of recap and do all this stuff over and over, join me every Wednesday night here, you know, because I feel like this is the the best of me. Um, you know, I feel like this is like the when I make the videos, I have to cut them all down and sometimes I don't know if I should explain more or less, whatever. But thank you guys for joining here tonight. And um, and if you guys need me, if there's anything that uh, you're looking for demonstrations on, remember, go to YouTube, click on playlist. I got a bunch of good stuff on there. And I think these turned out well. I'm excited. And I got more stuff. Let me show you some stuff and then we'll wrap it up. I got um I got another card that I thought would be fun. So, I'll do this one this week. I'll show you guys. I don't know like a I got this one. I got this one in the four. And look at it's got like a bunch of peel on the edges. It's like peeling apart. So, I thought that'd be something cool. Try to fix that up. I got a bunch of cool stuff that I um have coming up you guys. So, if I can make a good teaching demonstration out of it or something like that's uh helpful or whatever, I'll make a video. And my video archives are on Instagram, YouTube, YouTube. They're saved on playlists and all my live shows. If you missed a live show, go to YouTube, click on play, click on the YouTube playlist. I have them all saved on there. All right, I think I think we covered it for tonight. Now, you go get busy. Take some of this stuff that I showed you tonight and go get busy. And I hope that uh I helped set a good expectation of what's doable, what's not doable. Don't be hard on yourself if you can't get a damn factory scratch out of a card. Trust me, I I I even I even make a scratch remover that couldn't get it some of those things out. So, don't be hard on yourself. Just have fun. Enjoy your collection. So, remember, take care of yourself, take care of somebody else, take care of your cards. I'll see you next week. I'm Kurt with Kurt's Card Care.
