“Be aware that the video frames factual legal proceedings within a broader narrative of existential conflict to increase the perceived necessity of supporting the creator's platform and purchasing health products.”

Primary technique

Anchoring

Presenting an extreme number or claim first so everything after seems reasonable by comparison. The first piece of information becomes your reference point — even when it's arbitrary or deliberately inflated. Works even when you know the anchor is irrelevant.

The content is delivered by a known human journalist with a distinct personal brand, consistent sign-offs, and natural speech patterns. While the script is structured like a news report, it reflects the specific editorial voice of the creator rather than a generic AI-generated summary.

Personal Branding and Sign-off The speaker uses a unique, consistent personal sign-off 'I'm still reporting from just outside the Citadel of World Freedom' and 'I'm still reporting' which aligns with the channel name 'The Still Report' and the creator Bill Still.
Speech Nuance and Phrasing The transcript contains specific phrasing like 'As Marshant' (likely a phonetic transcription of Asif Merchant) and natural delivery of complex names and acronyms.
Established Creator Identity The channel is a long-standing independent news outlet run by a known individual (Bill Still) with a distinct, consistent voice and presentation style across years of content.

Worth Noting

Positive elements

  • This video provides a concise summary of the federal conviction of Asif Merchant and the specific evidence presented by the DOJ regarding Iranian assassination plots.

Be Aware

Cautionary elements

  • The use of 'survivalist' branding and 'Citadel' imagery to frame standard news reporting as a high-stakes battle for freedom, which encourages financial dependency on the creator.

[screaming] Good morning. I'm still reporting on just one of the recent Iranian plots to kill Trump. As Marshant, 47, was found guilty yesterday of murder for hire and terrorism charges in a federal court in Brooklyn, New York. The jury reached its verdict after a short trial that lasted about one week. The decision came quickly, just in two hours of deliberations following testimony from key witnesses, including a confidential informant, two undercover FBI agents posing as mafia hitmen, and Merchant himself. Prosecutors said Merchant worked with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, a powerful military and intelligence group to plan the assassination of US politicians and government officials. The main target was then candidate Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. The plot was meant to avenge the 2020 US killing of Iranian general Kusam Solommani which happened under Trump's first term. Iran wanted to stop Trump from returning to the White House. Merchant originally from Karachi Pakistan admitted on the stand that he had ties to the IRGC. He said he started working with an IRGC official named Morad Ysef in late 2022 after his cousin connected them. Merchant claimed he was interested in intelligence work and needed money. In March 2024, Merchant traveled to Iran for training on counter surveillance techniques. His handler directed him to go to the US that year to carry out a four-part plan. Stage protests, steal documents, launder money, and arrange a murder. Once in the US, Merchant tried to recruit people to help. He met with what he thought were contract killers, but they were actually undercover FBI agents recording everything. He even sketched out ideas for a shooting at a rally on a napkin. The FBI arrested Merchant on July 12th, 2024 in Texas as he was prepared to fly out of the country. This was just one day before the first assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13th. Merchant told agents he initially thought Iran was behind that attack too since it matched what he had been sent to do. Merchant also said he thought the IRGC would pay $1 million to anyone who participated in the assassination effort, but he believed he would only receive $50,000 for his role in hiring the assassins and setting it up. Prosecutors showed evidence of Merchant's longstanding anger towards Trump, including old Facebook posts with violent images such as Trump's decapitated head or Trump next to a pig. Attorney General Pam Bondi said, quote, "This man landed on American soil hoping to kill President Trump. Instead, he was met with the might of American law enforcement." Close quote. The case highlights Iran's efforts to kill Trump during the 2024 election run. Another plot involved an Afghan man, Farard Shakiri, who remains at large in Iran. In related developments during recent US Israel military strikes on Iran, key IRGC figures were killed, including the man behind the Trump plot. Secretary of War Pete Hegstath announced that the leader of the unit involved had been eliminated. The strikes also resulted in the death of Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Ham. Merchant faces up to life in prison. I'm still reporting from just outside the Citadel of World [music] Freedom. Good day.
