Analysis Summary
Ask yourself: “What would I have to already believe for this argument to make sense?”
Strategic ambiguity
Leaving claims vague enough that different audiences each hear what they want. By never committing to a specific, falsifiable position, the speaker avoids accountability while supporters project their own preferred meaning.

There's a lot going on right now and honestly it's a little bit too much. But one of the things that we know for sure is that when the news cycle gets busy like this, there's almost always something else going on that is just not being discussed at all. And on Friday, the US just put out a report outlining a key part of America's strategy moving forward. and it's not really being talked about all that much. I actually did hear about it from Rob over at Digital Asset News. So, shout out to Rob, but other than that, I haven't heard anything about this. And the thing is that it's highly relevant to what's going on with this war in the Middle East. So last week I brought up the fact that there are fiber optic cables that run through the straight of Hormuz and these cables play a role in connecting the region to the rest of the world regarding communications infrastructure such as the internet and fiber optic cables in general can serve as key infrastructure that can be attacked throughout these conflicts that are occurring. And we have since learned that Iran's attacks on data centers in the region have in fact been intentional. After we talked about all of that on Friday, President Trump and the Trump administration actually put out a report called Unveiling President Trump's cyber strategy for America. and it highlights the importance of cyerspace and the critical infrastructure that it now stands as. And this report gives us some ideas of how some of this war in the Middle East might actually play out. Now, in this report, there are six key pillars, and I'm going to break them down for you and what they mean for you and your money. Before diving into the six pillars, the report directly points to the most recent geopolitical events and how cyber played a role. It says, quote, "Whether destroying online scammers networks and seizing 15 billion of their stolen money, supporting a globe spanning operation to obliterate Iran's nuclear infrastructure, or leaving our adversaries blind and uncomprehending during a flawless military operation to bring international narotist Nicholas Maduro to justice, adversaries are on notice that America's cyber operators and tools are the best in the world and can be swiftly and effectively deployed to defend America's interests." End quote. The US is making it clear that cyber warfare is a part of the game. And although a lot of what we're seeing in the Middle East is definitely a kinetic war, cyber will be a part of the equation. Now let's dive into the six pillars of the report. The first is shape adversary behavior. Now let's dive into the six pillars of the report. The first is to shape adversary behavior. The goal here that they outline is to make the costs of cyber aggression higher than the rewards. They said, quote, "We will deploy the full suite of US government defensive and offensive cyber operations. We will unleash the private sector by creating incentives to identify and disrupt adversary networks and scale our national capabilities." End quote. But it also says, quote, "We will counter the spread of the surveillance state and authoritarian technologies that monitor and repress citizens." End quote. Now, that sounds great, but those two things are very likely to be at qualms with one another. The US has historically incentivized private sector entities to cooperate with identifying threats. And what that really looks like in practice is mass surveillance. In 2022, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report on what is called commercially available information. And this report essentially breaks down how the US government can easily purchase data about citizens, which they can then use to infer just about everything there is to know about anyone. And it's perfectly legal because instead of producing this info themselves, they buy it from the private sector. So, this idea of countering mass surveillance by incentivizing the private sector doesn't really work, but we'll keep moving. In this section, the report also says, quote, "We will uproot criminal infrastructure and deny financial exit and safe haven." End quote. And this is probably how we can look at some of the updated language that we saw in one of the versions of the Clarity Act that gives the Treasury the ability to restrict or condition digital asset transactions tied to designated risks. We've now seen plenty of reports that Iran has actually built a multi-billion dollar parallel economy using state sponsored Bitcoin mining and stable coins to bypass the US dollar heavily driven by the IRGC which is the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran. The Genius Act for stable coins and the Clarity Act for the rest of the crypto market infrastructure is much more about controlling the exit points of digital financial systems and maintaining the supremacy of the US dollar than it is about making America the crypto capital of the world. And this report is helping to make that a lot more clear. Now the second pillar of this report is to promote common sense regulation. Quote, we will streamline data and cyber security regulations to ensure that the private sector has the agility necessary to keep pace with rapidly evolving threats. End quote. The third pillar to modernize and secure federal government networks. quote, "We will accelerate the modernization, defensibility, and resilience of federal information systems by implementing cyber security best practices, postquantum cryptography, zero trust architecture, and cloud transition." End quote. Postquantum cryptography and zero trust architecture sounds a lot like the same type of language that we use in conversations around the world of distributed ledger technology and blockchain. Now this section also points to the fact that the US has been dealing with hacks from adversarial nations. Uh we've had the US Treasury getting hacked which is probably one of the worst systems that you'd want to see get hacked. uh but that has happened over the past few years and we've had many reports of other incidents as well. Zero trust architecture and postquantum cryptography definitely points to some sort of distributed systems that would be able to help in preventing this from happening so regularly in the future. Now the fourth pillar in this report is to secure critical infrastructure. quote, "We will identify, prioritize, and harden America's critical infrastructure and secure its supply chains, including defense critical infrastructure and adjacent vendors, private companies, networks, and services such as the energy grid, financial and telecommunication systems, data centers, water utilities, and hospitals, securing information and operational technology supply chains. we must move away from adversary vendors and products promoting and employing US technologies. End quote. Yikes. After years of relying on Chinese electronics, the US is finally saying that they might want to move to bring some of that stuff inhouse so that China can't just shut down US water systems in the middle of a war in the Middle East, for example. Now, moving on to pillar number five. This one is to sustain superiority in critical and emerging technologies. Quote, "We will build secure technologies and supply chains that protect user privacy from design to deployment, including supporting the security of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies. We will promote the adoption of postquantum cryptography and secure quantum computing." End quote. So the US is directly acknowledging the importance of crypto and blockchain. They are also acknowledging the fact that quantum computers could be used as a tool to create an attack on these networks as well as other traditional networks within the United States. I think it's important to recognize that the way that this report was written does not ignore the things that are happening right now in the world. And in fact, it kind of points to the idea that this is hyper relevant information when they bring up what just happened with Nicolas Maduro as well as the previous attack that the US carried out on Iran last year, taking out their nuclear facilities. The world is moving toward crypto and the United States government is making it clear when the future of commerce is built on cryptocurrency. It becomes a major attack vector and the US is saying that they're going to get out ahead on making sure that the US is prepared for that future. The sixth pillar is to build talent and capacity. quote, "We will eliminate roadblocks that prevent industry, academia, government, and the military from aligning incentives and building a highly skilled cyber workforce." End quote. Now, I'm not a financial adviser, and none of this is financial advice. I highly recommend that you do not take financial advice from a random guy walking around a park talking to a stick. This report is openly admitting that cyerspace is becoming the core domain through which infrastructure must be protected and through which wars can be fought. It's pointing to the importance of blockchain and quantum computing. It is essentially telling us that these kinds of systems are not going away, but are here to stay in our critical infrastructure to protect now. And I'm not going to be surprised if this conflict that is occurring at the moment will lead to a further increasing of the narrative around the importance of stable coins, digital currency, and maintaining dominance over these kinds of systems. While everyone's looking at what's happening in the sky, on land, and over the sea, there is the domain of cyberspace that we have to keep in mind as well. And finally, I have some information that I found that might be worth sharing, which is that a man named Robert Gates, who was the Secretary of Defense at the time, directed the creation of the US Cyber Command on June 23rd, 2009, just a few months after Bitcoin was released. Just something that I'm going to dig a little bit deeper into and maybe you guys have some information on that yourselves. But anyways, maybe I've completely lost the plot here. What did I miss? What did I get wrong? Or how could I be looking at all of this differently? Let me know in the comments down below.
