The content is clearly human-created, characterized by authentic speech patterns, personal life details, and a genuine, unscripted enthusiasm for the hobby. The presence of numerous filler words and specific, localized context (Rotterdam, specific friends) strongly rules out AI narration or automation.

Speech Disfluencies Frequent use of 'uh', 'um', and mid-sentence corrections (e.g., 'I would never would have gone um because you know I'm I'm just you know')
Personal Anecdotes Specific mentions of a friend named Dustin, his daughter coming home from college, and childhood memories of his dad pulling a Troy Aikman card.
Niche Domain Knowledge Detailed discussion of specific card sets like '94 Select Cantonbound' and '54 Dixie Lids' with the tab attached, including uncertainty about specific back rarities.
Natural Pacing and Tone The transcript includes a snort, conversational tangents about living in Indianapolis, and a non-linear narrative structure typical of hobbyist vlogs.

Worth Noting

Positive elements

  • This video provides a realistic look at the 'trade-and-cash' mechanics of card shows and the specific aesthetic details of 1990s insert sets like Pinnacle Artist Proofs.

Be Aware

Cautionary elements

  • The casual conflation of hobby collecting with 'investing' can minimize the actual financial risks involved in speculative card buying.

Welcome back to Cards and Commerce, guys. Today I have a really fun uh video where I went to a card show, but the original intent wasn't to go to the card show. I actually got contacted by a friend of mine, Dustin, who uh collects pre-war and 90s cards just like I do. and he actually had a Griffy card that he wanted uh to trade to me and it was a very um good trade and it was a card I really wanted is a card that um it's been on my list to get and I was really thankful that he thought of me uh first. So, we made a good trade and I was able also to pick up a few other cards from him and also some other cards of the show. Um and it would end up being a lot of fun. first card show of the year and I would never would have gone um because you know I'm I'm just you know I've got my daughter just came home from college and you know just got back from work uh you know from the holidays and I hadn't thought about going to a show and then all of a sudden it's like oh you know come to Roderdam uh which is actually really close to where I work um so that was really cool and uh as a bonus I was able to find um someone with comic books and I made some really awesome comic books pickups and I put them in a separate video because the comic book pickups were insane. Um, I think my card pickups were pretty cool, but the comic books were out of like out of sight, you know, just really cool. But here we go. What I picked up at the card show. So, I'll start with some cards that I just picked up uh at the show before I get into the trade. So, I always look for 90s cards. And this is a set I always love from Select 94 Select the Cantonbound. And they're not really worth a ton. Uh, but they have the really cool duax. I remember I remember as a kid pulling a Troy Aman from a box. I think actually my dad did. And uh, these cards were cool. They people really love these. Dufax was always always a cool card and I think it's just awesome that uh, you know, I found this at the show. It's cheap card, you know, like $10, $15 card. [snorts] Next up is another really cool insert from 96. So this is the uh mirror image um atomic refractor. So you got Mark Brunell and Dan Marino on one side and then the other side is Steve Young and Carrie Collins. So I picked this up, you know, again in that 10 to 15 range. Um next up, um and again I got these all from the same dealer. Uh I picked this card up. I I don't know much about this issue and this kind of plays into that, you know, don't play around with cards you don't know about much about, but I've always wanted a card from the set and or it's not really a card. It is the uh um I think these are 54 uh Dixie Lids. And I picked up the Bob Lemon. And the reason why I picked it up because it still has the tab attached, which I think is somewhat rare and it's in pretty darn good shape. Uh now it's the Arvilla back, which I don't know if there's any real difference in the back rarity. I just thought it was a cool card. I don't I don't have any cards in this set. I've never had these uh Dixie lid before. So, there you go. I just picked this up. I thought it was pretty awesome. And uh it has a little stain on the back. Uh but that probably to be expected. Uh but there you go. Um, let me know in the comments what you guys think about the Dixie Lid because Dixie Lid because I just don't know much about him. Um, other than just I thought they it was a really cool card and uh Bob Leman was a very good pitcher. So, it was not like he's a uh common. And then the la uh one of the last cards I picked up um just at the show um you know I don't do as much modern anymore but I do think I do like to have a few cards of younger players just to you know just to have that buy in into you know watching the games you know like I got a few Paul skin cards you know so I picked up this guy I picked up a u silver prism Drake May now do I like the Patriots, you know, h you know, I still kind of hate him from living in Indianapolis for all those years. But Drake May, he definitely impressed me. I watched him play a few games uh this year. Could be MVP this year. That team could get to the Super Bowl or they could be in the first round. Who knows? NFL is really crazy this year. But I think just pitting away one of his silver prisms, you know, was, you know, just for me like, hey, like, you know, I wish I would have picked up one Momes, even though I did pick pull one out of a pack um in in a Josh Allen just to have like one or two good cards of some of the really good rookie cards, rookies that are out there. So, I'm just going to put this in in the old uh keep for a while pile and see how it happens. You know, I'm one card deep into into Drake May. [snorts] I did pick up a second Drake May card uh but I gave it away as a as a gift. So now as far as the deal um that I you know I um the cards I went to the show for actually to to actually uh trade for uh the first two cards were just uh other cards we added to the deal. Um and the first one is here it's this uh leave certified uh Reggie White um game used And I believe this is from 2004. There we go. These are numbered out of 80 85. Uh, you know, I had a good conversation with the, you know, Dustin, and we [snorts] talked about like, uh, you know, Reggie White doesn't have a ton of game used, uh, from the area he played era, uh, or close to the era he played in autos, right? So, I just feel like if you can find someone with good design, and this is a great design. I think this is one of my favorite designs of cards he has that are fabric cards game used. I have seen this card with two colors. Uh, so I guess that's a little more desirable, but you know, I just thought it was great and I don't have this card in my Reggie collection, so I grabbed it. I do like also that this shows you the actual uh jersey that they used to make this card. Is that pretty awesome? I I wish they would do that today. Um you know, just take a photo and put on the back of the card. Here's what the jersey looked like that we cut up. And uh there you go. So, that was a really cool card to pick up. Next up, um I'm a fan of this set. Some people don't like this set. I like this set. I' I've always liked this set. Um, it's from 1998, sorry. And it's the classic [snorts] 63 set from Flare. So, they had in packs, one per pack you would get just I think it was a one per pack you would get the base card and then they [snorts] had this gold insert. So, you can see gold foil. So, the gold insert was numbered out of 63. So, this is card 17 to 63. Greg Maddox. Um, you know, love this card. It's got a little bit of scuffing like right around here. I don't know if you can see it. It's kind of hard to see. It's got a little like I mean, it came out of the pack that way. Uh, it's fine. I'm just going to put it in my collection. Um, you know, these really rare cards like this. The Griffy is pretty expensive. Um, they're hard to find. And you know, [snorts] in the future, I honestly think uh we had this me and Dustin had a little conversation about it. It's like these really rare cards are just hard to get cards. I mean, you know, even if they're, you know, you know, with PSA currently grading, you know, taking off like two or three points or any kind of any kind of slight uh dings. Um will gradient matter as much for these really rare and cool cards? I don't know. Um, but I do like the card and I have a lot of other cards in the set. So, glad I picked that up. Uh, the big card, the card I came for, the Griffy card. Um, and it is a really beautiful card and it is from Make sure I get it right. Uh, 1998 and this is um, Pinnacle and I think is performers. So, if you know Penticle Performers, you probably know what the card is, but it's the gold artist proof Griffy. And uh it's kind of funny like I' I've had a few chances to buy this card in the past and I just wasn't ready or I didn't have the the the money, you know, cuz on on the Griffy boards and just people who have this card, um you know, they want [snorts] cash because it's a very liquid card. A lot of people love this card besides me. And so I've always kind of been like, "Oh, I wasn't, you know, wanting to spit that money or didn't have the money to spend the card when it was available. Uh I didn't see one at the national uh or I would have probably tried to pick one up." So with Dustin, I was able just to trade for it, which worked out perfectly for me. Uh it's got a little bit of right here, uh a little chipping right there. So, it's not a PSA 10 candidate by any means, but it's probably never going to get graded with me anyway because it's going to stay in this holder. Um, that little bit of of, you know, we call it like loss of foil or whatever chipping, that's fine. It's it's it's it's a great card. These are numbered out of 100. So, this is card 17 out of 100, which I thought was very interesting that both the Maddox that I picked up was 17 as well. So, both my numbered cards and uh unfortunately the the the Reggie was 20. So, if all three were 17, that would have been pretty funny. Um could start a 17 club. But this is a great card. It's got great uh color. Uh I just love the golds. I I have the base um the the non-artis proof of this card. Uh so, the artist proof golds are out of a 100. There's there is a regular artist proof, I think. um or a silver version of this card that um is also really pretty. I have uh I think I think I got Ivan Rodriguez and Vlad Guerrero in this set as well. So, I've got a couple other golds as well. So, um this fits right in. I don't have the Thomas, so you know, I'm pretty sure he's in this set. He's just, you know, you can kind of count on Griffy and Thomas being in most sets. Um so, that would be a good card for me to try to pick up. But again, um just a really beautiful card and it's a lot of fun, you know, being able to pick up um [snorts] you know, some really fun cool um 90s cards along with you know um a you know kind of a cool vintage card or vintage pickup just for fun and you know some speculating on one card for modern. So, very diverse pickups for this week at the show. It's a lot of fun. And stay tuned if you like comics, uh, especially some more modern comics, some variants that are really rare. Uh, stay tuned to the next video I'll be doing. I'll be showcasing those because pretty amazing pickups there as well. So, a lot of fun. Today was a lot just just a really fun day to be at a show talking to people digging through boxes, digging through cards, finding comics, finding cards, doing the things I like to do. Take my mind off of it because in a couple weeks I'll be traveling [snorts] to uh San Diego and then to Spain. And I'll be traveling to Spain at least four times this year. Uh Germany at least once. Um maybe Chile once. So I've got a lot of international travel coming up this year. So, I'll be a lot. So, that also prevents me from doing a lot of stuff at shows and setting up and things. So, it's fun to get one of the books and have it be so productive and fun. So, I'll see you next time in Cards of Comics. Let me know what you think in the comments and I'll see you next time. Bye.
