Apple Just Announced Their Worst MacBook

All right, this is the moment, everyone. So, who's ready for a brand new MacBook? No. A crap. Quick, put another letter in there. Oh, hi there. I'm Sam Tucker from the company that's too scared to do live events anymore. And for good reason. Introducing the allnew MacBook Neo. Because a silly computer needs a silly name. >> To make it, we reimagined how to build a laptop from the ground up. >> Yikes. Maybe we should have started a little above ground because we like to think of the Neo as a worse MacBook Air in every way. It's thicker, slower. Heck, even the color blue is worse. On the plus side though is the price as the whole computer costs as much as a storage upgrade on our other ones or the same price as our cheapest phone. But I think that says more about our phone prices than our computers. Anyway, we had to make a lot of cuts to make the Mac this cheap. Like the two ports on the side. Not only are they not Thunderbolt, one of them is USB 2. USB 2? I didn't know that even still existed. might as well just have one port like the old 12-in MacBook. Speaking of which, why didn't we just use that body for the computer? It's 10 years old now. It's got to be cheap. And like the guy said in the video, the Neo uses >> the most recycled material of any Apple product. >> Another thing we found in the recycling bin was the phone chip from the iPhone 16 Pro. That's right. Not only does this computer run on a phone chip, but it's not even the current phone chip. is the one from last year. The A18 chip, though, may explain the computer's other limitations, like only going up to 512 GB in storage. Honor, the iPhone could go higher than that. Well, what about not having Mag Safe? Honor, the phone had that, too. Huh? So, a few Macs ago, we finally admitted that 8 GB of RAM is simply not enough for a capable computer. And so, the Neo comes with 8 GB of RAM. no upgrades. So, good luck running next year's Mac OS Vista Premium on that one. Thankfully, one thing we kept in the recycling bin was the notch and hopefully it stays in the bin. The feet and keys of the computer color match with its aluminium body >> because you know, details. >> Oh yeah, speaking of details, here comes some other ones. I better dodge them like the Neo. Here we go. OW. ALL RIGHT. NO BACKLIT KEYBOARD. Headphone jack is in a weird spot. Speakers face away from you. Touch ID costs extra. Worst battery life. Diving board trackpad. >> Oh, cool. All right. Well done, everyone. Phew. Dodged all the bullets. One thing that confuses me, though, is that the Neo is less wide and less long than the Air with a smaller battery and fewer components. So, why does it weigh the same? What are we putting in there? Weights. And why? Just to suffer? Anyway, with the education discount making these things cost only $499, you better look out the back of your schools and universities because Tim's probably going to be selling these computers as a gateway Mac to get people into the ecosystem.
