Building a $10,000 Collection From Scratch!

I've got $10,000 to spend on Fanatics Collect and I know they've got some big grails in their buy now marketplace. So, I'm going to go shopping right now and you let me know what you think of these purchases. Let's get started. Okay, here we are on Fanatics Collect. So, I'm going to They of course they do auctions and premier auctions with incredible cards, but I am going to buy now because their buy now marketplace has a really good selection of all kinds of crazy things. And one of the things I really like is that they've got this great deal and good deal tag to kind of guide you towards which cards might be really really well priced at market. So in fact, right off the bat, I'm seeing a lot of Jordan. And of course, I love Jordan. A little bit of Otani here, too, is showing up on the first page of the buy now marketplace. Oh, look at that Mbappe. That's kind of a cool one with a World Cup coming up. Of course, unfortunately, that one is just over my budget by $624. and I don't want to spend my entire budget on one card. So, I'm going to instead spread it around a little bit. Now, this one is really, really interesting to me. The 1986 Star Michael Jordan rookie of the year in BGS9. This card is interesting interested to me. Uh interesting to me for a couple of different reasons. So, first of all, star cards have been unbelievably hot in the sports card market. You probably have seen a lot of the other Star Jordans that have popped off for absolutely insane prices recently. And and while PSA has started to grade, well, they have been grading now for a few years some of the early star cards, they're not yet grading all of the star cards yet. Rumors are that PSA is going to be grading more and more star cards over time. I don't know if PSA is grading this one yet. I don't think they are. So, this might be a good opportunity to pick this one up in a BGS9. Let me see what the subgrades are. Let me zoom in on this here. Okay, this is a perfect one in my opinion to pick up in a BGS9. Here's why. Look at the subgrades. So PSA tends to be a little bit more lenient than BGS on centering, whereas PSA really hones in on surface and the other great. The fact that this is a 95 surface, 95 edges, nine corners, and an 85 centering actually makes me think this has a really good chance of crossing over to a PSA 9 when PSA starts grading this card in the future if they haven't yet already. So, this right now is my first buy at $2,300. We can add that to cart, buy now, or I can even make an offer. And I noticed on the previous screen, if I go back there, it says that there's an $1,800 offer being considered right there. So maybe I could toss in an offer on this a little bit below 2,300 and get an acceptance. But since we're moving quick in this video, I'm going to I'm going to consider this a buy right now at $2,300. That's my first purchase. And let's keep going. Okay, $7,700 left to spend. And I'm now going to start searching for a couple of players whose cards I am interested in buying. The first one I'm going to search for is Caleb Williams. Here's why. If we look at Caleb Williams market, looking here in market movers, it's it's softening a little bit right now. It's some of these cards are down a little bit from 30 days ago. You know, when when he kind of got knocked out of the playoffs, his cards are starting to soften a little bit. I think Caleb Williams is going to be probably the hottest football card at the national this year and leading into the start of the NFL season. I think Caleb Williams cards are going to be the hottest. And so this is a buying opportunity for Caleb Williams probably between probably now and the next month or so. In my opinion, this is your sweet spot to buy Caleb Williams. So, let me go into Fanatics Collect and let me search for Caleb Williams and let's see what we get back. So, I'm looking at the buy now marketplace. So, I can see they got an uptown in PSA 10. They have a uh Donnress downtown in PSA 10. It's $1,750. Let me look back over in market movers. Here's that downtown. Last sale of the downtown as of the recording of this video was $1,700. So, that actually I mean that's pretty reasonably priced right off the bat in their marketplace. You can see they've given it a good deal tag and I think that that's a that's the correct tag on that car. That is a good deal. It's not a great deal. Be a great deal. You know, you'd want to see it a little more around comps, but that's a good deal. That's pretty close to recent sales. Um, so that's one I definitely would consider. Uh, a and this is one where it says or best offer. So, this is an opportunity to potentially put in a best offer on this card. and uh and and see if you can get an offer accepted there as well. Maybe a little bit lower. Let's see what else they have here for Caleb Williams as well. We've got a Kaboom and a PSA 9 uh from 2024. Uh that's an interesting one as well, right? 2024. That's his rookie kaboom. Oh man, I kind of like that. That's a PSA 9, $1,300. So, a little bit less than the downtown. Of course, the downtown was was PSA 10. And they've got this one flagged as a great deal. So, that's interesting, right? So, this one's flagged as a great deal. You can see that they've got sales history on Fanatics Collect right here as well. So, you can see right on Fanatics Collect's website what some of these things have sold for recently. To me, this is this is a buy. This is a buy. This is going to be card number two right now. I want to snatch this one up. The Caleb Williams Kaboom for $1300. Let's go next. How about a baseball card? Spring training is underway. We've got the baseball season not too far away. It's not a bad opportunity right now to pick up some cards of players who you think are going to be hot going into the season. And one of those guys who I think a lot of people are excited about this year is Gunnar Henderson. I think Gunnar Henderson maybe not the best year last year, but this year he's back. He's a young superstar player. I think he's got a lot of opportunity this year to really have a breakout year. I also think the Orioles are going to be a lot better this year as well. So that means to me a really good opportunity to look for some Gunnar Henderson cards. Let me type in Gunnar Henderson here and let me go over to the buy now marketplace to see what Gunner Gunner Hendersons are available. So, right now I see a couple with a good deal flag right off the bat. Let me scroll down to see Oh, there's a couple of great deal flags here as well. That's interesting. Let me keep scrolling. You can see all kinds of different price levels. It's actually the Fanatics Collect marketplace has actually become very very robust with a a huge inventory of cards. I think a lot of people don't realize how big Fanatic Collects inventory has become with just just tons and tons and tons of cards on here that are really worthy. I mean, look, they got 17 pages of Gunnar Henderson cards. So, you can go to page two here and continue to look down here. We got some good deals here on page two as well. Of course, they have filtering tools as well. So, if you want to sort by price, if you're looking for either premier cards that are high priced or you're looking for lowpriced cards, if you're looking for newly ones that are added, whatever, whatever you might look for, you can find those using their filtering tools. I'm going to go back to page one of the search results. Um, and let me look at these great deal ones. So, yeah, what is this? We got a 2020 Bowman. This is not his first Bowman. This is a gold shimmer. So, that's a really nice card. Not his first Bowman. I'm going to stay away from that one. I'd rather get a true rookie card or a true first Bowman. Ooh. H. Now, that's a fair deal. So, so you know, a reasonable asking price. Uh, maybe it could be. Let me let me go in here. Let me see if it's got some price advice. So, last sale of that $2,100 on Fanatics Collect. So, 3500. A little bit of high of an ask. Of course, I could make an offer on this card, but I'm going to hunt around for one that's maybe a little bit of a better deal, and I also don't have to spend that much money to get a really nice uh Gunner Henderson card either. So, let me continue to look here. There's a great deal. Uh there's a great deal for Tops Chrome Black. That's a little bit of a of a less traditional set though. I'd rather get something that is just a more maybe a more liquid card of his. Oh wow. They got his super fractor down here. Is that what I'm seeing? Wow. Look at this. Look at that. Now, you know, okay. I don't have that kind of money to spend today, people. But that is a that's pretty awesome. That's his first Bowman Chrome super fractor. So, I mean, they've got all kinds of grails here listed on Fanatics Collect as well. But how about this one? This one's listed as a good deal. And this is his 2023 Topps chrome, his rookie auto numbered to 299. This is the purple speckle refractor. Looks like a pretty nice uh auto on the card. Uh it is a PSA 10. Uh the card itself is a PSA 10. The auto is not graded. It's maybe a little bit of a light autograph at this angle, but this part of the autograph is really, really strong in terms of the uh ink quality. So, overall, it looks like a pretty nice autograph. It's a PSA 10 card. $675 for a nice Gunnar Henderson rookie card heading into the season. In my opinion, that's a buy. Add that one to my cart. All right, so I got a basketball card, a football card, a baseball card. I probably want to pick up some more of those, but maybe I'll just browse the buy it now marketplace to see what other sports they have as well in case in case there's like a soccer or hockey or some other type of card that really jumps out at me. So, let me go here and you can, by the way, when you go to the buy it now marketplace, you can uh you can look at different sports. So, let me jump into soccer since that's one of the sub item selections. Soccer is really interesting right now because we've got the World Cup coming up this summer and I think it is going to be hot as can be. soccer cards. I think leading up to the summer, leading up to the World Cup, it's here in America. The soccer card market is already hot. It has already been heating up over the last three to six months. It is only going to continue to heat up more. And this right here is this guy could be Lamin could be the most talked about player in the World Cup this summer. this guy could be the guy because not only is he considered the brightest young star, the brightest young upandcomer in soccer, but also he's on the Spanish national team. They are one of the favorites to potentially win the World Cup. And oh yeah, one other little thing. Guess what? In the group stage, the Spanish national team is playing here in Atlanta. So this card actually, if I buy this card, this has all kinds of upside for me because the team will actually be here in Atlanta. So, we're gonna have fans of the Spanish national team traveling into Atlanta. Hopefully, we'll get some of them buy Cards HQ. And then guess what? If I've got a really nice Laminia Val card, that's some trade opportunity or, you know, some opportunity to maybe sell it to one of those fans. So, this could be a really good opportunity to buy this card. Now, here we're looking at this is his 2023 finest UEFA purple shimmer. His rookie auto number to 199. And this is a B BGS 95 with a 10 autograph. That's a good grade on this card. I actually own one of these in a PSA 9 and it was one that was a fresh out of a top sealed redemption and it only got a PSA 9. So I know that PSA 10s are definitely not easy with these cards. A BGS95 is a nice grade on this card with a 10 autograph. The autograph on that card looks really nice. This is a lownumbered Lamin Yumal rookie auto from an important set. Top's finest is a set that people like a lot. At $2,400, to me, this is a buy. All right, I have $3,325 left in my budget. That is going to allow me to get a couple more nice cards. And one of those cards I would like to be Victor Webbyama because I have a lot of hope in WBY and the Spurs. I think they're the real deal. And I think they're maybe the only team that could take the Oklahoma City Thunder down in the playoffs later this season. Maybe they emerge out of the west as the champion. I don't know. It's going to be an uphill battle against Oklahoma City, but they do have a winning record against them this year. So, I do think this is the opportunity. So, let me search for Web Benyama. There we go. Put that in the search box. Of course, at auction, you know, they Fanatics Collect does these weekly auctions every week. And you can see they got a ton a ton of very nice Victor Webbyama cards in the weekly auction that is going as of right now, as of the recording of this video. Oh, I love the white sparkles. I own one of these. I love the white sparkles. These ones look so good in my opinion with the black curtain background and the black and white jersey. That's a sharp looking card, but I I'm not I'm not here today uh to buy things at auction. I'm looking at the buy it now marketplace. So, let me go back over to buy it now and let's see. Wow. Oh, wow. Fanatic. I didn't realize they had this on here. So, Fanatics Collect. It looks like they even have some sign memorabilia. Look at that. That's pretty sweet. That's awesome. Very cool. I'm not buying that today and it's over my remaining budget as well, but that's that's pretty I wasn't expecting to see that on Fanatics Collect. That's pretty nice. So, what could I buy? Well, let me look at let me look at the good deal and great deal tags. I do love blank slates. I love blank slates. If you saw me at the national this last year, I bought a complete set of the first year of Blank Slate Basketball at the National. I love these cards. Those are really, really nice cards. $2,300. They say that is a great deal. They're considering an $1,800 offer on that card right now. We got some We got a Topps Mercury auto. We've got a sealed Topps Mercury box. That's not a bad deal at $10,000 on that. We got some Deca. We've got these uh Panini National Silver packs. Those are pretty sweet. Couple of other Wembby cards here. Which one of these would you most like? I mean, you could go basic. You could go for the Prism Silver PSA 10. That's going to be a super highly liquid card. These are I mean, these are all liquid cards. This is a wellrespected card. That's going to be certainly a liquid card as well. I'm seeing a lot of a lot of Prism um and and some uh and some some really nice Mercury as well. Um let me zoom back up here. I think for web. You know what? That blank slate caught my eye right off the bat. It looks like they got two of these on here. 2300 and 2300. The same ask on both. So, you could kind of go into detail and compare these. Like, you know, you got to see how good the Well, yeah. So, look at this one. Okay. $2,300 is the ask. Look at the uh look at the edgeware on this. This This one is not you you know not going to grade well if you decide to grade that. You can see the edge wear on that card. Back of the card actually looks pretty good, but the front of the card's got some edge wear. Uh slightly off center. The the right border thicker than the left border. So, let me pass that one up. Let me go to this one. Okay, now we're talking. Now we're talking. This is definitely in better condition. The centering I think is slightly better on it. The centering looks quite good on it and I don't see as much in terms of edge wear. Now, this you're always going to find a little bit of edge wear on these blank slates with the very dark the black card design. It just lends itself to a little bit of chipping around the edge, but this one appears to be in a lot better shape than the other one. So, for $2300, that is a WBY super short case hit style rookie card. this one. That's a really nice one to own. I'm a buy on this card right now. Okay, so that means I've got just over $1,000 remaining in my budget, $1,25. I want to get one more card. I want to get the best possible card I can for that money. So, let me go back into the buy it now marketplace. I'm going to look at all of these different cards and then let me see. Maybe I sort by price. So, let me go lowest price. And you know, is there a way to Oh, you know what? There's there's uh you know what? There's some price filter. Actually, that's what I should do. Let me use the price filters over here. So, I got $1,000. I got $1,25 left in my budget. So, let me look at all cards that are between $975 and $1,025 because that will this is this is maximizing my budget, ladies and gentlemen. All right. So, I'm going to look in here and I'm going to sort now by highest. So, I'm going to see the $1,025 cards first to see if any of them catch my eye and then if if not, I'll keep going down a little bit. But interesting ones right off the bat. I I I a little vintage may not be a bad idea. That's a 1980 Nolan Ryan and a PSA 9. That's a very high grade for that car. They consider that a good deal. I mean, if you want to go real vintage, how about 1951 Tops? Or you could go complete opposite. You could go modern speculative card. This is uh Quinchon Judkins rookie downtown in a PSA 10 for $1,25. That's a card I kind of like. Um, I think actually there might be a little bit of excitement around the Cleveland Browns entering next season, but man, Elgen Baylor, like man, I could go anywhere with this budget. Um, that's an interesting one as well. Um, what else do we got? That's nice. Look at that. Kobe Bryant purple. I got to zoom in on this card. Look at that. That That card screams I appeal to me. the color match, the purple prism with the Lakers that just I like that card. PSA 9. So, they've got this tagged as a good deal. Um, so it hasn't sold according to according to Fanatics Collect's own data. It hasn't sold in Fanatics Collect in a couple of years. Uh, the last time it sold, it sold for $456, but that was 2024. And guys, guess what? A lot of Kobe Bryant's cards have doubled over the course of the last year. So, this is not like this is actually not a surprising price at all to see on this card. If it was in fact $456 a year and a half ago, $1,025 is probably in the ballpark of where that card is actually worth today with just how the market has moved. I really like this. This is secondyear select basketball. So, it's real early select basketball. And this is before much select basketball was made. When you go back to 2012, 2013, those products were really short printed. And this is uh let's see what this one's numbered to. What were the purples number to that year? Number to 99. So, there you go. Card 92 of 99. Kobe Bryant. Let me see that front of this card again. Oh, man. That just hits, doesn't it? I mean, that's a that's a beautiful card. really well centered, too. I don't know why that got a nine. Yeah, that's a PSA 9. I don't know why that would have gotten a nine instead of a 10 because right now in these photos that looks sharp. The centering on that to me looks really good to me. That's PSA 10 centering. And so maybe there's a small surface issue. Maybe there's a small print line. Is that what I'm seeing? Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Yeah, I bet that's it right there. That's probably it. Of course, I can't quite tell if from the photo if that's on the slab or the card itself, but my guess is that is a small minor print line on the card. And that is probably the reason why it got knocked down from from a 10 to a nine. Fanatics Collect of course has amazing highresolution images of every card where you can actually see detail like that, which makes a big difference. So that's that's fine. Like that kind of disappears into the background of the card. That doesn't take away from the eye appeal in my opinion at all. So you know what? 1,025 bucks. To me, this is a buy.
